Rich, you need to wheel more to test out your wheelbase.  Grin

so i was able to get some junk 1979 j10 rear springs of of jeff from crown auto and they had the front spring eye cut off i think i am going to use the entire rear j10 spring pack with a xj main leaf so hopefully that will take care of the rear springs. i did some horse trading for my h1's and 38" swampers for a dana300 set up with twin sticks and a teraflex 4 to 1 gear set up. if i did my math right that should be around 104 to 1   1st gear. i was always not to keen on the low gear sets in the northeast (wheel speed) but i figured that i would give it a shot i can always sell it for what i have in to it. as soon as i am done pumping out the basement that i sheet rocked a couple of days ago i will get going on the cj

so i have been very busy working on the cj, i have flat bellied the rig swapped in all new leaf springs. it seems that every step forward i seem to go 5 steps back. i wanted to have a cross member that would support the tranny and a separate set of cross members to support the skid plate. i had this vision in my mind of how it would come out and wasn't even close. not to mention that the angles on the front u joints  are pretty ugly. i had to make new twin sticks for the dana300 so i took the old ones and made the same length only straight, but because i rotated the dana300 flat the old twin sticks curved right into the t18 lever they turned out to be up around where the radio would be. i did the measure twice cut once thing when it came to the traction bar and came up about an inch an a half to short (i added 10 1/2" to the one i already had). the springs give my jeep to much lift and i was going to put waggie springs in the front for a 3" stretch in the front to keep the tires out of the fenders but i have a shackle reversal in the front so it does not change anything. its time to lose the front fenders swap in the old leaf springs (lower is better)

on the plus side
my rear drive shaft is now 32" long

i have 27 3/4" from the ground to the skid plate
and everything i just installed has anti size on it so it should all come apart easy

going to drink beer now

so i am almost happy with status of my cj just have to wheel it and see how it does. i am still going to change the flat belly set up so no pics yet. i lowered it down using stock yj leaves and a thicker main leaf from a old rancho leaf pack that i had and the rear got a xj main leaf and the rest of a j10 rear spring  pack. it still a little higher than i like but it still fits in and out of the garage with out airing down. here's a pic of the way she sits

when i had to lower it i had to remove the front fenders so i made a set of tube  fenders 1 1/8" x 1/8" tubing that i bent and skinned with 1/8" sheet i called my buddy who painted my jeep to paint the fenders but decided to paint it my self all said and done i was into the matched paint and supplies for about $100
