Oh man wish you would have talked to Jason, you can make your own ram assist for a fraction of the price by taping your box and getting hoses and a cylinder from TSC and put it together on your own.  Just need to make a support off the axle to mount the ram to.

Rich, I agree.  Jason could put it together for you for cheap!

Oh, and I never said it...but the Jeep looks bad ass with the reds, and the comp cut.

The problem with the Hydraulic cylinder from TSC is that it is a 2" bore.  This is too large of a bore for a steering application.  1.75" is the max bore for a ram assist, Otherwise the steering responce will be slow due to the large bore size and you will be fighting the cylinder during quick steering changes.  Also the TSC cylinder is a huge cylinder that takes up a lot of space.

I run a 2.5" ram.  Its setup for full hydro, but at idle, is slower than cold molasses.   Grin

true but if you drill the high pressure port out a few steps it will increese flow and pressure. i had to drill my stock pump to a 5/32 on the pressure port. this was two steps over stock for me, i did it one step and noticed a small difference. but it was when i drilled it to 5/32's, the 2" ram keeps up with the steering box. i was really impressed with the responce time and i think no matter what ram/box you have it will always be a slight delay between the two. the box wants to turn the tie rod faster but the ram needs to fill the body of the cylinder while trying to match your turning speeds.

so this is were a slight lag can happen and agian i dont think any after market kit can matcht he speeds perfectly. if its for off road then it make no difference at a slower speed, even at higher road speeds you should not even feel a lag.

its a little slower in a pavement turn, but the power is unreal. very close to full hydro and a heck of a lot cheaper.

i still have miguels taps and its stupid easy to drill the box, so if any bodys intersted i can do it. make a chunky mount out of 1/4" flat stock and smoke it to the axle. its really easy after doing a few, i would say for any jeep even a offroad jeep only try it, you may feel you dont need full hydro. i know im convinced along with miguel.

Full Hydro solves the steering linkage problem, ie: bending, binding and space.  Also if you are running a triangulated four link in front, it saves you from having to run a track bar.  It has it's place.  But keeping that mechanical connection to the wheels just gives me a little extra comfort that it will do what I want when I want it too.

saturday i played around with leaf springs and made some new front springs, basically i took a set of j10 front springs and a set of old ranchos springs for the rear of a cj this should get me around 2" of stretch in the front for a total of 104" ish wheel base. i will post some pic's after the install
