How come there doesn't appear to much dirt/metal shavings under the axle?  Whenever I work there is black steel/iron dust EVERYWHERE!

Teach me your method!! Grin

Dumb question, but this is going in the YJ, correct?

Yep going into the YJ.

I normally put the axle on a cart or my pallet jack and roll it out side into the driveway or the side of the house and do all the grinding out side. But i do grind alot inside the house, but seeing how its a under the house ( the garage ) I'm allways sweeping the floor. This way i dont track it threw the house and i go as far as changing cloths before i come upstairs.

My wife breaks out in rash's if she touchs the grinding grit or any metal shavings. Me Ive been doing it for clsoe to 20 years now i pee iron flake's Grin

Well its time to dust off this thread with some progress. I had alot of work this winter and it was mostly outside work, so when I got home and dealing with the snow and wood stove it really sucked the life out of me.

So after getting back out on the trail the other day and seeing how I don't have a rear 14 bolt left in my Jeep I need to get this done and on the trail. So I got some progress done over the last few days and will post pics when I take some.

Update, yes this along with alot of other prodjects ( cutting and spliting Tornado wood ) is taking the normall to much time but heres some Pics of where I'm at.

Axle installed for mock up,

Using the OEM low steer arm but in double sheer,

another and thats a piece of 2" .250 wall DOM steering tube, should be enough,

Front with a 2x3 tube truss welded to the center section,

You can see the welded diff in that last pic and I'm going with the same style off the OEM arm steering for now. Over the winter I will make my own arms and tie them in.

More to come, but life allways has a way of slowing down the fun stuff.
