Some of you may know I work for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. I am lucky enough to work at their camp,Camp Harborview (http://campharborviewfoundation.org/about-the-camp/).

Camp Harborview is located on Long Island in Boston Harbor. One of Boston's most beautiful islands with an amazing view of Boston's skyline.

The camp offers a summer camping experience to over 700 of Boston's youth. These youth come from Boston's toughest "at risk" neighborhoods.

We offer them the ability to kayak, hike, bike, swim, and learn how to sail. There are also educational classes, arts, music, SAT prep courses and three healthy meals offered daily.

We are having our second anual harborthon 5k roadrace http://chvf.org/2010/06/camp-harbor-view%e2%80%99s-2nd-annual-harborthon-5k-registration-now-open/, a fund raiser for the camp.

Even if your not running theres a ferry ride to the island, food provided by Pitstop Barbecue(trust me it's good stuff!), and drinks by Harpoon Brewery.

Best of all though you would be giving to a worth while cause. Trust me, I'm a part of the program and I see the difference it makes in these kids lives.

With all of the recent violence that has gripped our city's streets there has never been a better time to give.

Thank you,

Bob

This is a good cause

question

"A $25 spectator registration fee includes water transportation, admission to the event and refreshments"

Does harpoon supply these refreshments and is there a consuming limit?

Every year my company goes to the island and does a clean-up day.  Not only that, but I've run two boston marathons for the B+G Club of Boston.

This is a great cause and I'll will absolutely be there or help out however I can!

The spectator fee includes ferry back and forth, food and I believe one beer ticket. If you run you get all those things plus a t-shirt and theres a raffle or something. Mayor Menino will be there and there will more than likely be a speech......Isn't that worth the price alone?
BTW the Mayor is awesome by his involvement in this. If it wasn't for him the camp wouldn't exist.
I will do my best to get you guys more beer or pick up some to put in my work fridge!

Tooch, thanks for your help.! If you have been to the Island and have seen the facility you can only imagine how much it costs to run this program and keep the facilities up to such high standards. I know thats my job!

What a wonderful location for this.  Well thought out and run.

Couldn't have had more fun, course was a little slow because of the hills but I like that.

Glad you had a good time, sorry we didn't meet up but I was stuck with the Mayor in the begining of the race.....I drove around the yellow and white electric car with the city of boston logo. Anytime you want a tour PM me.

Thanks again for anyone who came out to support us.
