NEVER in my entire life have i obtained such an awful deal in my life, NEVER! i bought the jeep comanche.. only to find out it doesnt  Censored start.
claimed "bad starter" well wasnt that a load a bs... tell me.. can a starter go bad even if its still turning the motor?? i bought it off some female and after a while i ended up talking to her mom, a claimed "20 year experienced" mechanic... shes so full of herself.. she lives in texas and claims shes right that the starter was the problem even after i replaced it. i was told. it drove from texas to california just fine and when it was parked that was it. tried to start it and it wouldnt start anymore after sitting for a few months.
oh another thing is its throttle body injected i believe. its a 2.5 but if you open the butterfly valve in the throttle, you see a pool of gas!
sorry for you all to have to deal with my rant...
so what should i do?
junk it, im thinking about it
talk to my schools EM and see if they can help me
sell it as is
or try and fix it myself..
and what would you say for a diagnostics of it? no "check engine" light goes on in the dash.

lol nice, well this is one of the main reasons i never buy a vehicle unless i can go look at it and mess with it.  people will do anything to sell it and that includes lying.  I'm sorry this happened to you.  but if the motor turns over that's a good start.  make sure your getting the essentials for the motor to run.  I'm sure some of the other guys will have alot more input i don't know much about TBI stuff.  and hey at least if you fix it you'll have good experience with your new motor Smiley

i tried that... i couldnt get my money back..
and nooo she was NOT hot. and she went to her mom to decide if she should give me my money back.. her mom was being INCREDABLE stubborn and basically saying this is whats wrong cause i said it is and its my issue now.
granted, looking at the body and frame of this camanche this thing is SPOTLESS. a little rust on the roll bar on the bed but aside from that, clean. even the motor though it has problmes.. looks really clean.
i wasnt expecting such good shape from a 1988. it has a/c.

Sounds like a good deal to me, or a jeep.  one or the other or both.

Either way I think I'd try and figure out why it crank/no start.  It could be something like a $20 crank position sensor.  or a bad connection somewhere.  The motors are relatively simple.

Also, could spend the ~$100 to have it diagnosed somewhere, and take a lot of the guess work out.

if there is one thing i learned in my time in california is there is  no
shortage of scam artists!! too bad your truck isn't what you were expecting,
but i would see if you could get it to your school and see if they can help you diagnose it.
i agree that it could be a crank position sensor, but would make sure first before you
just throw money at it! good luck!

I see a great opportunity to learn. First, you have to take some responsibility, you bought a rig that you knew didn’t run. I’m assuming you listen to the engine turn over before handing over the cash? If the engine turns over you know the starter is working no matter what she says. Second, with the rust free rig not running seems like a great start in learning how to get it running. Down the road what you learn in the process will far exceed what you paid for it and you’ll have a sense of accomplishment as well.

Well ill try talking to my school.
Another thing is, i dont have a way to tow it. I tried AAA but apperently now you need a towing pass to get it towed also it would cost me 160 to tow it.
And yes its got a 4 banger, but i couldnt do any motor swap. The money i used to buy this was bassicaly my spending limit. Couldnt afford another motor. Also there was some splicing on the fuses under the dash.
