Ian's Official Jeep Repair thread
« on: October 30, 2008, 08:15:41 AM »
here is the latest repairs.

a rock turned one of the ears from the outer shaft of my driver side front from a round circle into a football shaped mess.  it didnt break the ear, just warped it so it isn't round anymore...thus smashing the tiny d-30 u-joint.  (i replaced this one during the F&F run)

1) i threw in my spare inner and outer shaft with an old stock spicer u-joint until a "new" outer shaft can arrive from that intraweb.  had to buy a 36mm socket to do this, adding to the cost.
napa didn't have the u-joint in stock so i went to vatozone where as i expected, they sold me the wrong u-joint.  next day i got the right u-joint from napa, but i broke my rule about not buying parts from vatozone and paid for it dearly.

2) i've lost all heat in my jeep, so my heater control is now to blame and is going to be replaced sometime

3) stock drag link was so beat there was a ton of play.  from crown automotive i got my replacement drag link and threw it in.  i still need to do a mini alignment for high speed driving.

gonna cost you a fortune to flat bed all the way to New England to wheel with us ain't it? ;)
My sister moved out to Arizona 2 1/2 years ago .  We almost moved out there a year later , but my wife chickened out.   ;)
Prpbably will move out that way eventually when I get divorced and hook up with some hot young thing ;)
