I just read in a forum that it is legal to ride at the powerlines in Hudson NH. Is this true or is he full of it.

from Scott Hatch; No powerlines are "legal" in NH or any other state unless you have permission from the land owners.

I know the powerlines that people use in Hudson....and they are not legal.

The land that most power lines are on are either owned by a private landowner who has given an easement to a utility (with the exception of railroad property, thats another discussion) or they are owned by the utility themselves. If owned by the landowner then it is possible that they may have given permision to use the land depending on if there is any language in the easement to prevent such use. If the utility owns it then I highly doubt they would let people on the property. The bad things that would happen if a transmission tower came down are not worth it.

I live in mass so i would have to drive about 3 hours to get to a class 6 road in NH. Also if a break something that is a large towing bill. Plus i would probably have to wait 8 hours for the tow if they can get to me. Trying to find a trail closer to me because all the clubs i find don't go out during the winter. Cry

I work for national grid,& there policy is all of there power  lines are off limits to the public. I do not know who owns the ones your taking about, but if its utility owned its most likely off limits.
