so I am finally taking the steps that I had difficulty doing while in worcester, and will be soon attending a course for my class A LTC.

I have done some research, and determined the Mass firearms school in Framingham mass might be my best bet.
my questions are mainly where are the "decent" gun shops in the mass area? I only know of a couple, and in the worcester county area. seems like the gun shops are scarce in these parts.

First, Mass firearms is not the best place to take your course, the only let you shoot simulated shot's from real hand guns.
Second, find a dealer. Gun store's charge more money than needed, Dealers are a better choice.

Contact John at Goal, 508-393-5306. His is bolth a NRA instructor and dealer. When you take a class from him its a two night course, first night you learn gun safty and carrying rule's/regulations, second night you fire live rounds at Worcester gun club.

He also lets you fire a wide range of hand guns, Glock-17, G-19, I think a 686 Smith ( 357 ) and a ruger 22. I took my course with a guy from Oxford, not John, I meet him ( John ) when I bought my Glock. Trust me if your going for your Worc, Calss A unrestricted then you want as much experence as you can get.

When I lived in Worc years ago the Cheif at the time denied me my Class A, and this was after my Mass FID expired and I ask how will tranprt my Guns, he said not my problem.

I would wate till you get your permit before getting your self pumped about what gun you want to carry or own.

understood, and I myself did have issues when applying for my F.I.D In worcester, was told no more were being issued at that time, I was trying to get it so I could shoot some trap at a gun club that my ex's ( gf at the time) father inlaw used to take me to.
I'm living in fitchburg so who knows, might be easier to get my Class A LTC after doing the courses....anway I will definitely give John at Goal a call.
I am a little familiar with gun safety, it's mainly common sense on what not to do with a fire arm and how to treat it. my concerns were the laws and regulations themselves in mass.

pistols I have fired S&W .40 semi automatic ( sorry don't remember the model), Beretta 96D .40, and a Springfield Armory 1911 ( pretty sure SA are banned in mass now, something about SA not conforming to mass regulations for their fire arm designs, could be wrong though). also various shotguns and .22 rifles.
I still have alot to learn, but not as much as a newbie as I am with jeeps  Grin

thanks for the help jason.

Thats where I took my course earlier this year and we fire these guns retrofitted with this compressed air, sucked, find a place that lets you shoot live amo.  Wish I would have known.  BTW no problems getting my class A in Spencer, Worcester has a reputation of being really tuff.

I too had no issues getting my class A in Spencer & I was only 22 at the time.  Had my class A ever since.  Won't give it up who knows what these retards in legistlation will do in the future.

add:

& my bro had his in Barre and moved to Brookfield and was denied renewal after his expired so he had to take the course again and he ended up moving to ware, palmer, and chikopee and still has been denied by all amd has no police record.  He has been told that he shows no need for such a license in their town inWare and that they aren't giving them out to "just anyone" who wanders around without settling down in town for a bit in both palmer and chikopee.  Point being they are getting to tihhten rope on who gets them.

it is amazing how gay MA is...it is pretty comical to look at the physical differences in my MA LTC and my VA LTC "id" cards.  At least the cops in my hometown in MA are reasonable, got my LTC right when I turned 21...none of that you dont have a reason BS.  I think it would be hilarious to explain to people in the south that they "dont have a reason" to have an LTC.  Only in MA would they force you to take a firearms safety class, and then have you shoot compressed air out of guns instead of real ammunition.  How the he!! is that training anyone?

I have always had positive experiences with Four Seasons in Worburn and Northeast Trading Post in Plainville/North Attleboro.  Four Seasons has a pretty legit website and usually has some pretty good deals going.
