hello every one, im new to the jeep world but i have enough experience in the old car world to know that my jeep is way too original to send to the junk yard. i have and early eighties scrambler with a fisher plow. the frame on the jeep is beyond repair,( i often find body mounts in my driveway) the only good parts are the glass, hood, grill, doors, roll bar, and soft and hard top. i know nothing about the value of these jeeps, but i am a mechanic and am completely honest when i say that the drive line of this vehicle performs flawlessly. it starts, idles and shifts. it has a six cylinder with a five speed. all the gauges work, the seats are very very good. should i try to sell it, or would i be better off parting it out, i dont know what its worth so any advice would be appreciated. thanks a lot, scramblinman

I would suggest that you keep it and replace the frame.  A frame swap would be a major PITA but if thats all that needs to be replaced its worth it.  Not sure of the value of them but someone on here also might buy it, twisty has a nice collection that is always growing.

if you are asking what this thing is worth well, the truth is not much either way (parting it out or selling whole)

basically you are going to be selling a early 80s six cylinder (maybe $100)  a t5 or t4 trans (if it is a 4 or 5 spd?)  worth about $50?  a d300 t-case is worth about $75?  the axles aren't worth poop  maybe $50  per axle but that is a reach.     the sad part about all the prices i gave you is the "reral" value of these parts is really only "what someone will pay for them".  cj parts don't bring alot in the used market.  the nose of the jeep is not worth much either.

sorry, not trying to be a dink.

maybe you could capitalize on the the fact that it a scrambler?  they are bringing big numbers on e-bay (restored or in perfect condition)

I would try to save it!

here is a link to a guy I know who was in a similar situation as you are, he replaced frames, floor boards, now he is replacing the motor... check it out, very impressive Cj8
