this is our back yard/parking area... nephews wanted to play in the snow... the youngest one loves it for about 10 minutes, the oldest is almost impossible to get back in the house.

Nice pics guys, I especially like Bob's log cabin shot, very nice. Welcome back Ian!

Jerry, doesn't get any better then plowing in a Jeep, comfortable and quiet. Plowed from 7pm Monday until 8:30am Wednesday without a break, snow removal up until 3am last night. Comfortable and quiet is the way to go on long hauls which the Cat isn't, although it's fun crushing back 4' snow banks with ease in a 928. Tuesday morning around 1am-3am visibility was really bad couldn't see much of anything, depending on the outside lighting some street were a total white out.

I noticed they didn't push the banks back in a lot of areas.    Think they are just waiting for the next storm? Or are they trying to save money to truck rather than push back.     Just curious as usually after a big storm like this things are mostly cleaned up a week later.

When there is a major snow storm the towns need heavy equipment to push the banks back, or cut down the number of streets one truck has to cover. Most plow trucks have a large district to cover, they hit the first road, then continue onto the next until their down with their route and start over again, by the time they get back to the start it's as if they never plowed it (heavy storm). Plymouth has 1 truck per district. I was in Abington and covered a large district, but had a truck and backhoe with me. Once you fall behind the trucks don't have the weight to push back the snow banks. Thats why you have to set the edge early with a truck and keep after it. When I returned to Plymouth I noticed 2 lane roads turned into one. However, Rt 80 in Plymouth is covered by the State and all the banks were pushed back using their heavier equipment.

Snow removal: when I worked in the North End and Southie I would push and pile the snow at corners of intersections until it stopped snowing then I'd load trucks for removal. Same thing I did in down town Rockland Thursday and Friday. In Abington same deal except we didn't remove the piles I just cut then down so little smart car drivers could see. So typically city streets, or main streets in towns have snow removal, in the burbs, intersections get cut down unless the town has the cash for removal. Pushing back the snow is a lot cheaper then having it loaded and trucked out. I did one bank lot and it cost $2000 for loading and trucking out.

Thanks for the info it always interests me.    I come from rural New York where the snow removal is far different than here.   All the trucks are actual trucks (not 3/4-1-1.5 ton pickups).   All dump trucks with wing plows.    They cover a lot of miles but have two drivers typically and we don't have the bank problems they have here.     Over never seen so much equipment used to move this little area of pavement.  They literally run 3 or 4 trucks up and down a single lane road in front of my house (rt 1a), when a single truck could do the work.

Just did a Sunday 11am to Monday 6PM swing, the intersection's snow plies are stupid high. I felt really bad for the folks cleaning their driveways on Monday, they would snowplow or shovel the end clean only to have another truck come by and plow them back in. Just so everyone knows, we need to widen the roads, if we don't the roads will become single lanes. On Monday I cleaned every driveway end, and mail box for anyone that didn't have a snow blower, in return I got a lot of thank yous, water, and a coffee. I expect nothing and feel good about it, and will never take money.  For the most part everyone understands and appreciates the work we do.

For the keen eye.....

Drove the snowblower across the sun porch to attack the deck so I could get a ladder out there to get up on the roof

Then proceeded to make a giant mess cleaning off the roof.

Dad can almost touch the roof and he's short. 5'7" ish

Haha actually it has a hole above it to vent air and it does let the light come through.
I mostly left the bush in there for oxygen generation of course.
comfortably had 8 people in there yesterday.
