I did some nice damage to my tank skid during the Fall Crawl..... Shocked  There was already some nice dents but I ended up with a section that was pushed up a good 3".  My fuel gauge stopped working so I figured the sending unit connections were pushed up into the body.  After seeing Posi's thread with his new tank skid I figured it was time to step up and put the right protection in place once and for all.

I placed and order for the 20 Gal skid from Four X Doctor.  3/16 thickness and man is thing heavy!  I love when items show up unpackaged with just the UPS label slapped on the side.

After cleaning it off with some Eastwood metal wash I took a page out of Posi's book and covered all of the welds with rust encapsulator.

After that is was a few light coats of clean metal primer and then on to rustoleum black.  For good measure to protect the inside I gave two coats of the toughest stuff I have in the the garage.... bedliner Grin  Done and Done!

I washed the poly tank and drooped it in the skid.  The install was very easy and all of the holes lined up perfectly.  Very happy with the quality and fit of the skid.  Fuel gauge is working again so we are in good shape there.  Time to get back out on the trail and put it to good use.

I need to follow suit.  My tank got bent in half almost at the BBQ.  It still doesn't leak though and I never had a fual gauge anyway Smiley
Looks awesome.  Great job with the prep.  I am gonna just use your pics when I post mine because I will do it exactly the same thing Wink
