What's the deal with the front shackles and springs?

NO! lol, it's a aluminum thing. The stock shackles in front dont match the "longer" CJ3B rear springs that are in the front, so therefore they are just placed in between the shackles and bolts, causing the springs to stay put, but flex amazingly.
Oh so yesterday I let me neighbor drive it.......
2 Blown Motor Mounts, Transmission Mount/ Torque Arm, Radiator, Alternator, Clutch bell crank, 2 Drive Shafts.
The entire motor moved up, forward, down below the motor mounts, then back up causing the passenger side motor mount to be under where it shuld be, and the transmission is up about 2 inches.
