Attended one this weekend, and they have a great setup there.   Camping on-site and 6000 acres.
It is around 500 miles each way from my house, so the 3 day even is key.

Well worth the trip in my opinion, and the people who attend seem to be quite well built.  36" tires seem very small there.

That is all.

Took me around 9 hours yesterday to get home running 65-75 on the highway and stopping 3 times for fuel and one stop for a flat trailer tire.  (2pm-11pm)

the trails are excellent and go from mild to wild def worth the trip

its actually more worth it than rausch creek if you ask me. the facility is nicer all around (showers, bathrooms camping on site) the price is very reasonable.

def check it out if looking for a new place to go on a wheeling trip

the land is primarily a campground, not an offroad park.

as it was told to me, john hunt (who runs big dogs) asked the campground a few years back if he could rent the land for events and cut trails. the cove camping area owned all the land was cool with it. the cove doesn't care about the trails at all! in fact they say that they typically make more money from "normal" campers but the times that big dogs is there is a slower time for the campground so it works out.

despite all that, big dogs is a great event if you are looking to wheel and camp. it is very affordable and very well run.  there is stuff for your whole family and as i said before the trails are for all types of jeeps / buggies or just sh!!t box toyota trucks (there are LOADS of crappy toyota trucks there, must be a southern thing)

I have a quick question, is Big Dogs Offroad, is it a club (like we have here) or is it more like an event planning group and puts together all these events, I recall a big dogs event in Disney not too long ago, was it the same "group"

Just wondering, glad fun was had by all.

It is an event planning group I believe.

big dogs is run by jon hunt, he is a founder and it is as bobby said an event planning company. their primary spot to wheel is at the cove campground but they do have other events during the year.

he (jon hunt) has been doing this since the early 90s' and used to hold events at paragon and the surronding areas (he also used to use the land that is now rausch creek) it seems like Va is now his "go to place" now though as most of his events take place there.

i would DEF go if anyone here has the opprotunity, well worth the effort.   its just a good event
