I have this unit from Moroso.  http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-74102/

It has an alternator circuit built in, so when you kill the switch, it kills power from the alternator, thus ensuring complete electrical disconnection.  The instructions for this unit state that the alternator circuit is 20A max.  (http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/74102_inst.pdf)  According to RockAuto, my alternator should be a 61A unit.

SO....does this mean that I shouldn't connect the alternator to the switch (61A going through 20A circuit)?  I'm a little confused about these numbers.

Any advise?

Tim I think that is for a race car with a low output alternator.  Where is the output from your alt. wired to?

The alternator is just wired into the + battery cable.  It's a 1988 Renix Jeep setup.  It goes to the starter relay, which is directly connected to the + battery cable.

Just tie the alternator and the positive battery output to the switched load side of the disconnect.

Just tie the alternator and the positive battery output to the switched load side of the disconnect.

X2

Just use the large terminals. I would imagine there would be a use for the smaller rated terminals (maybe to fuse the alternator separatly or isolate the ground from the battery and the postive from the alternator) but in your case the main contacts are rated to 300A and should do the trick.
