ok so as I have posted this before and am getting really tired of possing money , time and possibly safety away.  I through the new axle out of my jeep AGAIN! After only 75miles.  New axles, bearings, seals, plates etc etc.
Axles were assembled by Sunny Side Ford in Holden proffesionally by a mechanic.

And Yes Charles I did have the bearings packed as I am VeRY aware now that these are not lubricated by the differential fluid.  These were installed in the housing properly.

Now my question is could I have bent my axle tube on the drivers side enough to be causing me to chew up the outer bearings?

It's all I can come up with.  Other possible causes?

in the meantime I will be looking for a sold amc20 housing and installing my locker and axles into it.  I will be doing the 4:88's at the same time I think.  But I am just at awe with this bearing issue and that's all I can come up with.

Had to get towed home 52 miles from home in Newton and spent the better portion of my day hating my jeep.  Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear. Did the bolts shear again?  Were new races added with the bearings?

Bent tube, it’s possible, it will be something you will have to check. If it’s not obvious eyeballing it or using a straight edge on the tube you’ll need to be more precise.  Remove the shafts and backing plates, use 2 straight edges horizontally at the ends of the tube. Take a measurement from 11” above and below the tube and across to each tube end, if there is .04” difference the axle is trash.

Another thought would be play at the race.

I boughttimken bearings and seals and they were 1 piece sealed units and the mechanic used a bearing greaser to press the grease in good Posi

Everything slid in fairly smooth Bob.

I can see this happening once but this is rediculous.  Emailed that guy in Raynam Bob and I plan to go grab that set of axles tomorrow if he still has them. Wink  thanks.  2:71 gearing ?  great even higher geared tha my 2:73's Cheesy

My opinion, scarp it and get a better rear axle. 20's have a strong R&P, but when it comes to those tubes between bending and twisting, not worth the aggravation. 44, 8.8, 60? Something else.
