My wife's car needs brakes. I want a good pad that has the least amount of dust. I tried a few in the past, like the factory Mercedes, and something from the parts store that was supposed be good, but am yet to love 'em. any recommendations? preferably based on experience.  Grin

As mentioned ceramic dust the least. These pads use ceramic compounds and copper fibers in place of the semi-metallic pad's steel fibers.

Akebono and Rotex Gold are two good ceramic pads worth trying. I haven’t used them but know others that have.

I used to run pagid on my porsche..great pad, they squeal a bit under light pressure, but had low dust and worked great under heavy braking.

I've had good luck with bendex, i've heard good things about ebc's on a performance vehicle, supposedly they come with a break in compound already on them

If you get good pads like ebc or hawk you will replace your rotors faster. Does your wife want to stop faster? I would just go with a high quality ceramic Raybestos or Bendix.

While we're on it, what pads have good stopping and low break dust?  I put some on my car and they throw a lot of dust onto the rims (more than previous set).

I find ceramic lack initial stopping performance expecially in the wet weather

You can get brake dust shields for behind the rims too

I vote for installing a compressor with 4 air lines to each disc. I would wire the compressor to the brake switch. When the service brake is applied it will automatically activate the compressor sending air through the lines to a relief valve at the lines end. There, compressed air builds up enough pressure to trip the relief valve thereby sending a burst of compressed air onto the disc blasting off any dust that may accumulate from the braking action.

While we're at it lets put in some pad heaters, so you dont get ice on the pads while driving on the highway.
