acme transmission quoted me 1200-1500 to rebuild my transmission in my dodge as it wouldn't downshift or upshift properly.  I did a little reading....pulled down the pan, took the valve body out of it for a cleaning, replaced the shift selenoid and switch reinstalled and I rebuilt it my self for $92.00 free shipping from my good friends on ebay.  Then refilled with +4 and she runs like new.

but my aftermarket waranty ran out 6,200 miles ago  Cry

getr fixed

a dodge with a junk auto trans... baffeling..

when I had the valve body in my dodges tranny changed at 6K miles and then the whole trans swapped out at 7K, and then small issued until I finally got rid of that POS after only 5 years and 45K miles, I will never own a dodge auto tranny ever (unlesss it is a 88 dodge omni, I'd drive the tits off that thing).

i'll never buy a duramax cause the injectors wear out fast and $4500 to have replaced! actual price quote gven to my friend to have injectors replaced at 154xxx miles, but they were already replaced at 99xxx mikles!  Roll Eyes this quote was from 10 days ago

just cause you had an issue with you trans doesn't mean that ALL dodges suck!  you blind loyalty to brands is baffeling, dodge has changed all of their tranmissions and all of them are better. i am surprised axle had an issue with it.  the issues you are referring to are from the pre 04' trucks for the most part. sure they still have issues with their drivetrains but so does ford, chevy etc.

my trans in my dodge is going strong, i tow heavy just about every week, and heavy as in 10k ikn stop and go traffic. i bought my truck new and its has never had an easy life by any stretch of the imagination. so does that mean that i think dodge is the end all be all of awesomeness? no! cause i am realistic about life. not some blind brand follower such as yourself.

glad you truck is getting fixed bob and better eyt not at full price!  Grin

there is alot of great info over at http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/ if you ever need or haven't been over there? i just got ball joints for my truck through the recommendation of guys on here and it has solved all my front end issues i have been chasing since i installed moogs! xrf lifetime balljoints, $225 to my door!

I find it kinda funny when you put up your opinion based on your experience, it is just that, I put up my opinion based on my experience it considered Blind Loyalty.

Facts are, it was an 06 not a pre 04, and this is not limited to just this vehicle, while I do not personally own this vehicle, my work van (dodge) has already had the trans replaced (about 30K miles) and that is a 2009.

But since yours goes just fine, Bob's trans and what I have experience must be a fluke.

no jon guess not. i asked the same thing and he said not covered. i don't know any more info than that. i tried to stay out of it. seemed like a sore point. he is selling the truck cause of it.  buying a ford like lucas's old truck. i stayed out of that one as well.  Roll Eyes

john you are so quick to rip on dodge cause you don't like them but the fact is that all trucks and cars have issues. this is coming from someone who actually worked in the automotive field.  i workd as a service manager for a car dealership for several years. i worked on all makes and models and ALL cars and trucks have issues. saying "oh dodge suxs" is stupid and shows your lack of knowledge in the automotive field!

i have said this before, all cars and trucks sux just some more than others on any one given day! thats the only fact in in this thread,  FACT!

Todd, I see exactly what your saying and I understand your point of view, I am not disputing that. I know you were a service manager and I find you to be very knowledgable, I think my point of confusion is that I stated that there was no suprise that a dodge trans crapped out, but I didn't say Buy Chevy or Buy Ford because they are better; I based my opinion on my experience.

I would like to make a comparrison to a recent thread you started about balistic, you had issues with the company, while that issue may or may not have been isolated to you, you had issues and clearly stated you will not do business with them and that you would post this info all over the internet (not verbatem quote) All vendors have issues at some point, I personally have not had the same issues as you, which is pretty much why I did not contribute (pollute) your thread with my opinion.  Different experiences will yield a different opinion. I am happy, and honestly suprised that your trans as lasted as long as it has, especially knowing how much you use it.

soooooo Bob, are they replacing the whole trans?  So what are you responsible for some sort of deductible or something?  Ive never owned a vehicle long enough to find out how those extended aftermarket warranties work
