H1s
« on: August 01, 2017, 08:02:37 AM »
I'm looking to pu a set of H1s and military 37s for street use and to help with inspection time...
Will un-recentered H1s clear D60 high steer arms?
Anybody run these on their 60?

You generally need special arms to clear the H1 wheels.  I think they have around 7" of back spacing and might even hit the stock cast steering arm on the knuckle.  I know rich ran them for a while.  Not sure what he did to clear them, but maybe he will chime in.

Good luck ever getting a un-recentered H1 to run true.  You would be better off just buying a whole new set, and even then cross your fingers about getting a decent ride out of them.

I have been seriously contemplating registering my jeep once I get it done and so I planning for that.  Regarding wheels and tires, What I am going to run is base model, stock steel 03+ dodge 2500 wheels.  Not as much back spacing as H1's but will still suck the tire in a bunch, 17" rim so tire choices will be better and they are dirt cheap of craigslist. I bought 4 for under $100. (don't remember exactly, but I think it was $90 after haggling) they were rusty but I plan on wire wheeling them and some rattle can.  Going to pick up some cheap tires in or around 31-33" and should get me past vehicle inspection.

I can measure the backspacing when I am home if interested.

That'd be great!
I'm thinking the H1s are a no-go...
I'll keep an eye out for other options. Thanks guys

Yes special arms are needed,
8.5 " rim with 7 " of back spacing . I am running who steering arms on my front 60 and they clear but you need to cut the factory arm off if they are the stock knuckles.
As far as balancing 5 golf balls in each one and I was able to do 70mph in my dodge just fine. I was running the 36" Goodyear craptastic  tires
With the h1's and a 12.5 tire it put the middle of the tire right in line with the body so regular fender flairs would cover 90% of the tire

Found a set of H2s with decent bfg ATs. BS is 5 5/8" so they should clear, and 17" wheel.
It's gonna look kinda ridiculous but it should tuck the wheels in and get a bunch lower...

Stock Dodges were ~6.25" back spacing
