I think I am going to try and get one at Hollands $50 grab day. Anyone know?

Also, how much does a 44 Aluminum out of a ZJ weigh?

Depends if you still have the brakes on the axle... probably close to 200lbs with the brakes and all.

you can cut the weight down to about 150 if you pull the calipers and rotors and drain all the gear oil out.

No clue what a Zj 44 weighs, probably about the same as a pile of doo doo...

Its august 25th!!! Don't miss out on the action!

Could this be me?

The only problem is that I broke my back 2 years ago (screwed up T-12). So I don't want to mess myself up too bad.

why do you want new axles for the mj

and in my opinion, if you can carry the axle, it probably isnt beefy enough to bother swapping into your jeep  Wink

Because I didnt feel that confident with the D30...and if they were $50 each, I figured that I would get some beefier axles to build over the next year or two.  But I had some rather large axles in mind...and I know that 1 person would NEVER be able to carry them.

There is a set of rockwells on craigs list NH for $900.  Its tempting, but a little too overkill now.  if ALL axles were $50 i was going to try to find a 14bolt and a D60 out of a chevy.  Not bad for $100, and build them slowly over the next year or so.  But a fully dressed D60 comes close to 400lbs...so its not a one person deal.
