I realized today that my transmission mount is like throwing a hot dog down a hallway, as well as my motormounts, but I already knew that. My car makes this nasty clunk sound going from reverse to drive.

What do you guys recomend? The more ones or should I just get NAPA cheapo's. I have access to an engine lift for this month so it should be easy to do.

you dont need an engine lift, just a floor jack...takes about 30 minutes (at least in a 94 xj)

Yeah I know I don't need one, but I think it will make the job a lot easier.

Plus, my floorjack sucks, I have to stack like 8 inches of wood on top of it to actually lift my jeep up!

Where is a good place to buy the more engine mounts?

You can get them direct from M.O.R.E  http://www.mountainoffroad.com/more.htm

Bay State Off Road is also a dealer, so I can get them for you too!

I don't think they make one specifically for a ZJ, I wonder if the XJ one will work. Maybe I will call them.

If you use a poly mount for the engine, also use one for the transmission. also the poly mounts will transfer way more vibrations from the drive train to the chassis.

the MORE mounts are not poly, they are actually rubber.

OK... the point was regardless of what you put in, make sure they are both the same..

Polyurethane and Bonded rubber have allowences for different amounts of flex, if you have one of each, due to engine rotation movement fore and aft of the mounts, you will prematurely tear/wear the mounts.

Poly mounts transfer more vibration over factory levels but are not nearly as harsh as a solid mount drivetrain.

I ran the MORE mounts with a stock tranny mount, and then with a solid (welded) transmission mount.  Never had any trouble with things snapping like you hear about in racing.  I've always been told run all the same type, but i could not find a poly transmission mount for the xj.
