I ran the MORE mounts with a stock tranny mount, and then with a solid (welded) transmission mount.  Never had any trouble with things snapping like you hear about in racing.  I've always been told run all the same type, but i could not find a poly transmission mount for the xj.

Thats why I did not mention drivetrain failure as a By product of dis-similar mounts, IMHO a stock jeep drive train would not put out enough torque to do that much damage (side note, smashing a drivetrain component into a rock is another story)

I don't know enough about the chassis design of an XJ, I would assume that due to unit body construction, perhaps the chassis would flex slightly to compensate for the solid mount tranny... I honestly don't know for fact.

I run all poly in my starion with balance shafts removed so its is kind of like driving around with a chainsaw on the steering wheel. But, My jeep is my daily driver / weekend wheeler so I want something comfortable.

I guess I will post on a ZJ specific forum like Mallcrawlin...

Thanks for the help guys.

yea what is a "zj" specific forum going to tell you.  There really isnt anything vehicle specific we all have the same motor and very similar tcase.  the only thing that is different is the tranny and frame.

You can run rubber or poly on either end.  It doesnt matter what you do.  A poly mount is not as soft so more of the vibrations are tranfered into the vehicle.  There aren't any "performance" gains in our application.  The only thing I have noticed is that poly stuff will last a lot longer.

I have run both rubber and poly on the motor and there really isnt much of a difference, slighty more noise at idle but thats it.  I am currently making the switch to poly for the tranny mount on my rig because the stock mounts only last about a year due to abuse for me.

Well I figure the distance between the cross member to the block could be slightly different. I would rather figure it out before I go blindly buying some $130 more engine mounts. The fact that they don't say ZJ on their site leads me to believe that the mount may be slightly different.

From a reference to this thread. [url]http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10754&highlight=motor+mounts/url]

More mounts don't work. That sucks...

If I had to do it again I would probably buy a cheap tj, sami, or a 2nd generation 4 runner (With the removable top)...

But I have a ZJ and now I have to work with it!

a 2nd generation 4 runner (With the removable top)...
Even though the pre 85 are SFA and the later are IFS, I believe they are all considered first gen...

and I agree on that 100%, 4 runners are cool

I wasnt saying you should buy parts for your jeep that dont fit the particular model.  I was simply making the point that the opinions given on mall crawling or whatever zj site would be the same as ours.
