Project ZJ

Figured I'd start a thread, cause sometimes its cool to look at this kind of thing.
So I sold the Krome TJ, RIP in NH.
After much time looking for a good clean rig.....
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. 4.0/Auto/ Leather, Power everything. Cold A/C. 149k, Bald tires, horrible floor mats. Guy was asking $3600, eventually got him down to $2050. (he needed to get rid of this thing and I was there to take it. Its insanely clean, no rust! Scratches, small dents. Whatever
Did a few interior mods. New Husky Liners and painted the awful wood trim, cleaned it a bit too. Still gotta glue up some of the headliner.
The leather is pretty clean, I am pumped. The only exception is the drivers seat which has the normal 100k + Wear. Few rips, etc.

Looked like someone had dragged a shovel accross the hood and the paint was faded, so I decided to hit the hood with compound and a rotary buffer. Might do the rest of the Jeep down the road...oh yeah new brakes all around as well. $150
Time to paint that awful gray/faded trim!
SEM Bumper Coat works best(body shops use this). Scuff the plastic trim with a brillo pad(red). Then prepsol it(to remove the grease and wax and other crap), then adhesion promoter, then topcoat. This was about $60 to do the whole vehicle. SO worth it.
(not my hood, lol)

Trims looking good! Still gotta do the bumpers. Time for 20% tint! I love tint! Cleaned up the paint a little with wax. Its amazing what a good cleaning wax and a buffer can do to old faded paint.
Front bumper. Check! Got new E-Code headlights to replace the yellowed ones, Tried cleaning em, and had no hope, got factory fogs too for $40, open box. I want good lights to head up north with, don't want to hit a moose! ~ $100 for headlights if I remember. Replacement grille, $20.
Clear outs make it look cleaner, and newer, and they were $10 and NOt full of water anymore. lol

Well done Mike.
You may want to check the torque the rubi rims on the white XJ you saw in my yard needed to be re-torqued a couple times.
You have the price backwards in your first post if that matters.

bling bling
I'm liking the stance, its perfect and exactly what I wanted. I cant stand jeeps that have small lift kits and have tires sticking out way past the fenders. Between the Spacers to convert the pattern to 5x5 and the wheels. I ended up with around 4.50-4.75" backspacing
