Honeslty Mine is just tossed into the back with the rest of my junk, has not fallen out yet. assuming I keep the rubber side down, should not be an issue

im one of the idiots that mounts it on the hood. i carry a can of pb blaster with me. i built my rack with stuff from HD for about 10.00 then 6.00 for paint. i just lube it whenever i use it and it works fine still, had it for almost 8 years now. started out mounted in bed of my tacoma, then on bumper of my cherokee,cj,etc.....
just go to home depot in west roxbury and look for this guy. hes the best employee they have, and has alot of knowledge of jeeps

i've just thrown my in the back (danger when it shifts), then on the hood in was mounted (blocks your view/makes noise, catches snow), then on the rear bumber (big mistake), now its mounted on the basket on my roof. (its on the passagner side, works well)

most important thing is to have it in/on the jeep when you need it!

i don't care where you put it but you better secure it in some way.  it isn't funny when they smack you in the head if you roll or if your jeep gets jarred violently in some way and it comes flying forward.

just an fyi
