Hey NEJ'ers!

I want to ask you about something for you Jeep fanatics.  This is by no means a guarantee that we will produce these.  This is something that hasn't even left my desk for review, but I wanted to see what you all think.

How much interest would there be in a 44a diff cover?

I know this is a pretty unique market, so again, I make no promises that it will even leave my desk, but I wanted to see what all of you think first.

Quite honestly, I think a lot of this club is beyond that axle, and the ones who may still consider it would be swayed into something better by the veterans. I do know several guys over on wm4x4.com are running 44a's in their gc's and were having a hard time trying to find a real cover. Like you said pretty unique, but not nonexistent.

The truth of it is, I think your right...most people are beyond this axle, but my opinion isn't always the public's and I have experienced the forums that scream yes for everything we gauge interest on, and then the parts sit on our shelves for years.  I trust you guys will tell me the truth and appreciate the response!

I think it all comes down to cost.  I've been looking for a new d44 cover for both axles because I just have guards and want to get rid of them, but I'm not willing to pay $100+ per cover.

Basically, yes most of this club is past these axles, but there are still a hefty amount of people who aren't.  Most newbies and people who want to keep the Jeeps street legal still have stock axles and want to build/protect them as best they can.  That's been my plan all along and I don't ever see myself going to a one ton.

44a is for grand cherokees? Aluminum right? I think most people here would go for the D44 over the D44a.

Missed that little letter.  My bad.  But either way, my previous comment stands for D44's.

FWIW - Our Dana 44 covers (if you are a NEJ member) are less than $100.

I just noticed that after I re-read your original question.

As for demand, nothing really here, most people that had the 44a swapped in a 8.8

on a side note, to create a product in a niche market, it might be prudent to develop a product that address some of the inherant issues with a 44a, simple tooling that could serve double duty on other products, small inventories; eventually the market will create itself.

other than pulling them out in favor of other axles, my 44a knowlegde is limited, but I believe one of the issues is tube flex. if so, a thick steal diff cover with a truss tieing the two tubes together yet still able to maintain the suspensions geometry perhaps.

Good luck

I thought it was r&p reflection from the aluminium housing. A good cover could help that.
