Two things:
1) Teh hard top isn't really goign to keep things any warmer
2) You can get an aftermarket rack to mount to eh bumper and the windshield which will allow you to hold a snowboard rack.
But, it's your choice.....I think about getting rid of mine every year, but I like the glass in the back with the windshield wiper so I can actually see otu the back.

even with only a soft top, the heat in my yj cranks to the point where it is unbearable.

Well eventually mine will do the same thing, but right off the bat and for the first 10 minutes it's going to be cold regardless of which top you have on.

i had a basket attached to my jeep for 3 or 4 years and i have never had a hard top. infact this is the first winter with a soft top, usually just used a bikini. mine was made by warrior. i'd get a rack that flips over backwards to make a little tent like thingy. it will be cheaper than a hard top.
you won't be able to get a hard top for under 900 bucks i don't think.
here is a pic of my rack (RIP)
