Hmmm...with jks as new as they are. Either you won't find any lifted ones for sale....well except at dealerships that use that tactic....
And for the price someone may want, why not buy one and build the way you want?

Because lifted JK's with high miles are around 15k, and if I buy one I am going to lift it anyways. I really like the idea of saving money and buying an already built rig.

I am going to go to the dealership and look at 2011's. Apparently kelley Jeep sells new base sport's for $21K, which means its a smarter idea from KBB standpoint to buy a new one... But I don't want to throw money away because I know I will wheel it.

I miss my jeep so much! I can't wait to start wheeling and building a jeep again. I just want to do it right, instead of pouring money into a ZJ / WJ and then selling it for $1400 Sad

me and the wife have been thinking of trading in her benz for a 4 door jk, 2 points to know.

wait till september to buy one, the crappy 3.8l v6 will be gone and the jk will finially get the pentistar v6 which people are raving about in the grand platform.

also we just got a quote for a 4 door jk, some what base model but still had AC, D44 rear (I guess all 4dr have them after 2009) auto (wife doesn't want manual) and it was 22K at lawless in woburn; I would assume a 2 dr would be considerable less.

i see them everywhere for sale lifted and stock

one thing to think about is if you are buying from a private seller do you have cash on hand to make the buy on site? its way easier to neg if you have cash in hand rather than offering money and then having to secure the money after the deal is done.

Love the new sig Todd, and I 100% agree, cash in hand is a powerful tool when negotiating.

there's a used car dealer down the street from my store that often has lifted JK's for sale...for a used car dealer, they're honest & reasonable in price from what I've seen. Auto Express is Canton, MA.

I bet you can snag a good deal on craigslist. I sold my 07 2dr Sahara with 40k on it for $16k cash a little over a year ago.

Humm, good points to know. I am looking to do like 20% down on a car loan. I know I should pay cash but I dont think I am going to.

So... Looking for something that will be a daily driver for the duration of the car loan.

I will do some research on the penta-star, i thought they already had this motor.

John - I thought all JK's had a d44 rear... Is there a site similar to wjjeeps.com that offers all tech information?

Yeah I did some research on the pentastar engine. It does look nice, timing chain, 10:1 compression and 87 octane? But I guess I see why he 2011's are so cheap at dealers now.

I will count my pennies and wait until they are both on the lot and make the decision then.

early JK's I think had D35 rears on some models, I could be wrong.

JK's came with 44's & 35's, and it was semi luck of the draw on if it was ordered with a 44.

People complain about the 3.8, but I didn't mind it at all. It put out just as much power and torque as a 4.0, just seemed to have a better high end than low end. Mine had 4.10 gears (slush box Embarrassed but had the dana 44) and it moved off the line and around just fine. The only time I felt it didn't have power was climbing onto the highway but I attribute that to the tranny.   Maybe it's when they get the higher gearing that it feels like a dog, and with the extra weight of a loaded 4 door it's a different story, but I didn't think it was as bad as people make it out to be.

Claire or Clare Jeep in Middletown RI has a lifted 2 door and a lifted 4 door out front.  no idea on details, I just drive by them about 50 times a shift and each time they grow on me a bit.
