I make all of my brackets out of 1/4" and I have access to a torch setup, but I'm looking for something that is easier to use (clean cuts, including bolt holes) and that will cut a bit faster.

my only advice. if you want to fab in relation to this sport...you will want to be able to cut 1/4", if your plasma can't you will regret it.
Sorry but I disagree with this. while it is nice, for most hobbyists, it is a bit excessive. I will not argue that it is nice to have, but I don't think he would regret it. I think for most hobbyists, the ideal set up is to have a plasma capable of cutting 3/16 cleanly (and even this will require some grinding to make it ubber pretty), as for 1/4 inch you can source a cutting torch for a fraction of the cost, and the end cut result is not going to be that much different assuming you are skilled with a cutting torch. I stated mine will cut 1/4 inch, I will clarify, the end results are not very pretty, I need to run a very large orifice tip and it is painfully long to do, and generally if I have to cut 1/4" I use a torch or I go to Ians.
earlier you said it would cut 3/8th cleanly. Which is it? I'm really looking for an honest opinion and what I've read is that the 60amp (of the import) ones are the smallest that will cut 1/4 cleanly. I don't want to buy something that won't do what I'm looking for.

Even the cut edge of 3/16 metal that is cut with any plasma will need to have the edge dressed to make it pretty.
Cleanly refer to the straightness, accuracy and ease of the cut. I can gouge the
out of thicker material and in the end have a cut piece of metal, doesn't mean it was a clean cut.
I have a pic somewhere of some 1/4 I cut with ians plasma, I will look for it.

When your consumables get worn, the cutting gets less clean.

This was with new consumables I think, undressed edges except the slag was knocked off. Sorry best pic I had, which reminds me, I need to update my thread

Congrats, kind of late to this thread but I was wondering if you had contacted Mike/Ryan, they have a shop right of Rt-10 in Westfield. I know they have a plasma table, not sure how often they use it though.

Unfortunately a plasma table won't cut brackets off a frame that is under a jeep
I would love to have a plasma table though... Not in the budget right now, but the reason I went with the 45 is it is capable of being CNC controled
