First I'd like to thank Mikeswrangler for helping me out install this lift, using his driveway, and using his tools. Without his help I'd still be working on it.
My Jeep needed to adapt... so from a 3.5" RE Super Ride lift to a 5.5" RE Extreme Duty lift...
Before

Installing lift
Sunday...7am - 9pm
Monday...6pm-11pm
Everything went fairly smoothly, except for the rear shocks. We had to sawzall out an old nut that had rusted to a bolt in the mount. And that was tough because of the odd angle and the confined space.

Saturday...AR Wheels and 33" SSR TSLS :tsl:
A little rubbing on the flares, so I'm going to have to do a little trimming.

Thanks Jerry for grabbing the wheels and tires and holding on to them for me...and for letting try them out on your rock...
-
Looks good
-
Awesome Dan! When are you going to break it in?
-
Break it in? Or break it? Haha
Well either tomorrow or at Carnage...
-
Now all you need are some lockers!!!
-
Lockers are high up on my list.
Think I might need some new gears too...I have 3.55's now :o
-
Looks Nice :)
-
we'll put it on the rocks tommorow. ;)
-
nicee dan..looks great ;D
-
That looks sweet Dan. Good job with the lift. Tires are sharp too. Beats the last set!! ;D Hope these ones hold air on the trail better than the last set :D :D ;)
-
I have Ian to thank for these ones
-
Really looks much better. I see the new rear bumper and tire swing pivot are in place too. My next Wheeling vehicles gonna be an XJ I think. Looks great!!
-
That's the old tire carrier... didn't work out too well...
here's the new one from Nates4x4.
here is the front bumper
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w60/dw265/IMG_2270.jpg)
I just need to get the grade8 hardware and then the time to install them. With the weather starting to get chilly I gotta do it sooner than later.
-
I have Ian to thank for these ones
:-*
-
That'll look sharp. Hope to see it tomorrow @BOBs
-
How does it ride on the street with the drop brackets?
-
I'm glad I went with the drop brackets.they handle very well on the road.
But I wish I had planned better and gotten the Long Arm compatable rocksliders.
-
wow that thing looks great. :( all the xjs in the club make mine look bad haha, i have that same kit minus the drop brackets, which are next on my list, i love it. im also locked front and highly recomend that next.
-
Looks great! And Bob, all the XJ's look nice at first, then they look like yours. They will catch you up eventually.
-
Has Great travel too. Loved the way it rocked right over the pile at Bobs today with ease. Gotta love that loooooooooooooooong wheel base on those XJ's.....don't see that kinda flex with my leafs on the CJ.
-

I am very happy with how well it flexes. How big are your bumpstops? I got some rubbing, my passenger side flare is gonna fall off soon...some of the clips that hold it on broke.
-
your welcome dan..anytime.
-
Two questions
1.)
Anyone know, can I take off my stock flares...trim... and them move them back up?
I haven't taken them off to look, but does the bracket holding the flares on come off?
2.)
Anyone ever see someone run the TJ flares on an XJ? Look good? look bad?
-

Answer is yes to both. Look up 53Guy on NAXJA. He relocated his flares up after a trim. Look up TJ flare on NAXJA as well. I like the look of rear flares on all 4 corners of the XJ...looks killer.
-
Thanks for the lead!
I'll check it out.

53Guy has some pretty danm good write-ups. I'm thinking I'm not going to go with moving the stock flares, since my tires will still stick out. Want to keep it as street legal as possible.
You don't like the look of using the front TJ flares? I think it looks pretty good.
I was looking online at two different options of mounting them. Nuts and bolts or zip-ties. I like Ian's approach, that the zip-ties'll break before the sheet metal or the flare. Any input?
Also, I'm looking for M9 Grade 10.9 hardware, anyone know of a local place that sells it? Local to south of boston? I've tried the local hardware shops and a place in weymouth called the Bolt Depot.
Thanks!
Dan
-
you could try checking out Fastenal at http://www.fastenal.com/
i don't know where you're located but i know there's one right down the street from me on rt 106 in bridgewater. there's also one in canton, braintree and plymouth.
-
;D

-
4 Tj rear flares gets my vote.
-
4 tj flares look killer. And Wire ties are good but get the more flexible ones the cheaper ones crack and snap in the cold. I wire tie all kinds of stuff. Worked with an electrician(father-in-law) for years!!
-
Thanks vette! I'll give them a call today!
Thanks for your input guys, I'll have to check out some more 4 rear TJ flare picts before I decide what I want to do.
-
Jeeps looking good Dan! I didn't know the buddy you mentioned that helped install your stuff was Mike...he's a good guy, helped me with some parts a while back for my old XJ. His old one was NUTS!!
If you decide to go new on the TJ flares, you know where to find them! Another of my XJ buddy's is picking up a set soon from here. Looking forward to seeing your bumpers mounted!
-
Thanks Jeff,
Maybe I'll wait till your buddy installs them... See how they look on his before I do mine! Haha.
-
Hey I see my shot of you on the rocks made the cut for your personal image there Dan. Looks good. ;)
-
When I was installing my front bumper on my 1998 XJ I noticed something odd. Who can find it?
Here's the bumpers installed
Front
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w60/dw265/IMG_2291.jpg)
7 bolts holding it in on each side
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w60/dw265/IMG_2292.jpg)
Rear

7 bolts holding it in on each side (yes, I know, I missed one, for some reason that bolt did not line up correctly. Thinking what I should do about that.)
-
your jeep is a 98 right? i bet your jeep was in an accident before you got it!!!!!
looks pretty rad now!
-
You get a gold star! !
Yeeup. That's what I was thinking too.
-
YOUR OLD BUMPER CAME FROM THE FUTURE!
-
YOUR OLD BUMPER CAME FROM THE FUTURE!
-
looks great!
-
Thanks everyone! Now that I'm just about as armored as an abrams battle tank I can think about other upgrades.
Now the plan is to save up this winter for lockers and gears. But the question ill have to think over the winter is whether I should put that kinda money into my from d30 or not.
-
"Project One Ton XJ!!"
:bert:
-
NICE love the XJ's!
-
"Project One Ton XJ!!"
:bert:
Hahaha.
A question for everyone. What do you guys run for axles in your rigs? And if you had to do it again, what would you do differently?
<---- Trying to learn from your mistakes! Haha ;)
-
I have a D30 up front. The only money I have put into it is general maintenance (brakes, seals, oil) and upgrades (297x axle shafts, locker).
I have not had any trouble with it (except for bent CA brackets), and its been a great axle. However before I have any catastrophic failures, I'm upgrading to a Ford D60.
-
In my XJ I ran 30/44 with aussi lockers and 4.88's. If I had to do it again I would do the same thing. I broke a few axles a season but they were not hard to change, I think my worst season I broke 6. I ran 33x12.5's
-
as long as it is your dd, keep your axles and work with them.
-
I have a dana 30, lock right, alloys and ctms in the front. An amc 20, lock right, one piece alloys in the rear. I have not broke anything yet. Of course now I will explode since I said that.
-
I went with alloyusa's grande 30 kit with an ARB locker in my original d30. The kit upgrades the axle from a 27 spline to a 30 spline. I finally got out on the trail yesterday and can't say enough about the ARB in the front. Switch off for easy steering and easy on the axle, get to a tough spot, pick your line, switch on, power through, switch off, back to buisiness. Keeps wear and tear down on the front ujoints when off, but a very dramatic improvement when needed. I couldn't be any happier with the ARB and would recommend it for the front of anything.
-
Thanks everyone for the info!
I think I'll keep the D30 and gear and lock it. I've seen how twisty wheels his D30, if that hasn't' exploded yet then I think I'll be good to go.
Higher Ratio gears... numerically lower gears.. if you still have 3.55 this will sork.
Thanks John! I figured I'd reply here rather than hijack lilredwagons's thread. Do you mind holding on to them for me...until I make up my mind on what I want to do?
I still have 3.55 gears. When I do re-gear should I go 4.10s? or 4.56? I've gotten recommendations for both. I run 31" for DD, but once I regear I'm planning to run 33s full-time.
Another question, anyone here run lunch-box lockers? How does it handle on the road (heard some bad things about them while making turns)? I was thinking of possibly doing ARB Airlocker (haven't really priced it out yet, but I'm sure it would be more expensive than a lunch-box)
-
Get 4.56.
I think John's carriers are for 3.55s and 3.07s.
-
if your gonna run 33's i would go with 4.88 gears, thats what i got and absolutely love them. lunch box locker up front is fine, the only time you will even notice it is when taking a very tight turn such as in a parking lot or u turn etc (and then you just hear it ratcheting, doesnt have any effect on turning)
-
i have an xj with 4.10s lock rite front run 31's as a DD and 33's on the trail i love it, another factor i faced was i bought my rear axle with 4.10's for 150 and just regeared the front. saved me a bunch of cash. but i have never drove one with 4.88's i dont want to steer you in the wrong direction, my xj is also a standard.
your xj looks great
-

Thanks ;D...Hopefully it'll stay in the shape for a while...at least while it's still my DD.
I can't wait to see all of the other XJ's in the club now!
<--- Please don't make too too much fun of me for asking stupid questions (see below). Haha.
If I find a D44 or D30 with gearing already could I use them for my axles? Stock 2.5L TJ's came with 4.10 gearing right? Would that be a good idea?
Also, found this on craigslist. http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/pts/909960430.html
Good deal? I looked quickly and new was over $200. Maybe I could just offer him half for the D30 gearing?
Or should I just have a shop do the ordering and finding the right pieces. (I'd rather do much more of the legwork, research, and find the right stuff myself, I learn more that way).
-
X-Bob-J's got a decent running xj there Dan. Really handled well with those boggers too. What a difference going through that mud. Good to wheel with you and meet you for that matter. Love those xj's
-
Look at performanceoffroadcenter.com
They sell package deal ring and pinion with rebuild kits.
For my 1 tons its going to be $550 for the D60/14b...gears and install kits.
-
Quick question.
I got TJ flares from Mike (burtonlj) to install on my XJ. They are already painted silver, as cool as that color would look on my red XJ I want to paint them. I am going to paint them the same color as my Jeep. Already have the paint. I have a spray gun.
I am guessing all I need to do is sand the Silver Paint a little bit until it's a little bit rough, clean it off, and then paint. Anything you would do different?
-
Thats what I would do. Just make sure that the dust from the sanding is washed off.
-
fine grit and wet sand them washing them a few times and drying them well and dont paint them in the cold!!! ;)
-
spotted you passing home depot in rockland today...made me feel inferior in my stock xj :(
-

where are you from? theres not too many of us south shore guys in the club.
-
if you're still looking for an axle, I'll be pulling mine out in the next few weeks. PM me if you are interested and I'll give you the specs on it, I don't want to steal the thread.

all the cool guys live on the north shore 8)
-
I'm on the South Shore....bought a house in Whitman, grew up in Hanover...
-
i wasnt a huge fan of the xj club, but that thing looks really good.
North Shore fo life
-
Yup, that was me.
I'm from Hanover. When did you move out of town? Guarentee you know at least one of my 30 family members from here.
I guess there is more of a south shore representation in NEJs than I thought.
-
I graduated in 95....lived there till 99 moved over to rockvegas, from there to weymouth and now here in Whitman. I'm in Hanover all the time, thats where I keep my heeps....if you go down Whiting street on your way home from work you pass my garage all the time.
-
I usually take main street. But I go down Whiting a lot. Is your garage a little past Joe's Coffee shop on the right?
Maybe you know my brother Jim Wolongevicz he graduated in 98. Or maybe Matt, Mark, Steve, John, Mike Wolongevicz they graduated throughout the 90s...maybe one of the Devens...or the Landis.
-
Ya , I know pretty much all of them. We were all in school about the same time, never really friends but we all ran in the similar circles. The garage is pretty much across from Ponderosa Drive off of Whiting...can't miss it it's mustard yellow! If the garage door is open swing in and say hello.
Bob

Will do!
I know exactly where that is.
-
Hard to miss with the color and all my junk in the yard....looking like a redneck and loving it!
-
Well... I just bought a few more things for my Heep. Doing my part as an American to keep the economy going...
1.) Rubicon Express Trackbar drop bracket brace
2.) Rusty's Offroad Heavy Duty TC crossmember
3.) a front Aussie Locker
Should be good to go for the Gutter in March... ...
still need to install that gas tank skid thats been sitting in my driveway for the last 3 months... so much to do... so little time...
-
Youll love the locker up front, huge difference.
Good call on the trackbar bracket.
-
Snapped a few picks of the aussie locker install. Sorry if the pics are cruddy. Used my camera phone to take them. I didn't have my camera with me.

You can barely hear it clicking, only around turns at slow speeds. Didn't really affect the ride as much as I thought it would. We'll see how well it work next Sunday! ! ! !
And thanks to Jerry for letting me use his garage, his tools, and his help with it.
-
hey mine looks just like that ;D sorta :)
-
Well done Dan!
-
Thanks!
Funnyt thing is...If someone told me a year ago that I'd be installing lockers in my Jeep (automatic as it may be) I would've said... what's a locker?
-
Dan, I told you that you'd never notice them ;)
The first time you put it in 4-lo and climb up a rock you will be amazed at what you can do now. You just doubled your fun, and can attempt more challenging obstacles now.
-
awesome dan! now that your locked...it is the beginning of the end ;D

now your capable of getting into tight spots 8)
-
Lockers are great, they let you get much stucker before you giveup :)
-
Nice Dan. Will definatly make for a fun time! it is always a good feeling when you do your own work.
-
Nice job man, Can't wait to see it!!
-
just curious about those bumpers from nates4x4, I was checking them out and was thinking on getting them, how's the installation, was it easy, so so, or pound your fist in the ground type difficulty?
-
Yup. Nates 4x4. Good buy, I did alot of researching and searching. I thought pound for pound they were the best buy out there. It's built to order so it takes a little bit of time to get them. Plus they come bare metal so you have to paint them yourself.
Front bumper was no problem. Had to relocate the vacuum canister thing. All holes lined up nicely. I really liked how that bumper mounted with 7 bolts on each side, rather than the three that some bumpers come with.
The rear had a bolt hole that didn't line up. Other than that it was an easy install as well. Also, comes with a good mounting setup 7 bolts instead of 4 like some others. If you get the rear bumper I'd suggest buying the nut insert (Crown Automotive has them or you can just look it up online and buy it) for the driver's side. It goes inside the frame and makes the install go quicker and easier.
I installed both in a single afternoon.
Any questions or need any pics let me know!
-
you can cut and re-use the factory nut insert like i did on mine.
-
Mine only came with the passenger nut insert and I needed all the nuts on it. I needed the nut insert for the drivers side. For some reason it only came with one.
-
I am going to preface this post with I am not an electrician.
So when I take my doors off my XJ the disconnects for my power windows/locks/mirror etc are a PITA to do and undo and then feed through the frame. Plus I lose my front speakers. So this is to relocate the wires and relocate the speaker off the door.
I decided that I should install them outside of the frame and make one giant disconnect. It kinda worked. Instead of 5 disconnects I only have three very easy to reach disconnects.
Short Story I drilled a hole in the plastic panel and the door using a step drill bit. I fed the wires through. I bought a wiring harness for a car stereo and a reverse harness (male and female). Then I cut the door wires, then connected everything with slide connects. I electrial taped each connection to prevent the connectors from touching other metal parts (so when I push the window down buttom the mirror doesn't start moving up).
I am quite sure there is a better quicker way, but this is how I did it. Please feel free to comment. I still need to do the drivers side. I still need to get some rubber tubing to cover the wire and connector.
Oh yea, I am looking for a cheap 97+ drivers side door, preferably black and power (just so I can use parts for my regular doors when they break). Manual or power doesn't matter, let me know if you have anything. Key word is cheap. Like Tony I too am planning half doors. I have three other doors all black.
Thanks for looking! :o
-
(http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f66/dwiaderski/35.gif)
i might know someone with doors but i don't know how much he wants for them. i can find some info if you need it
-
Thanks! I only need the drivers side. See if he'd be willng to separate them too.
-
They look a little funny with 31s on. But I'm sure the 33s will fill them out nicely. Still need to do the rears. Should I keep them silver and repaint my sliders to match (they need to be repainted anyways?
Thanks Jerry for the help!

-
Please re-paint them. No offense, but I think silver looks hideous on a red Jeep.
How did you attach them? Zip ties? Screws?
Looks great!
-
Paint em blackk
-
Stainless screws.
Plus a L bracket Jerry came up with.
-
Please re-paint them. No offense, but I think silver looks hideous on a red Jeep.
Haha. I'm going to wait till we fit the rears before I paint them. ;D til then I'll have a hideous Jeep :barf:
I was going to paint them chilipepper red like my Jeep. But I'm sure I'm going to scuff/scratch them up so painting them black will probably be the best option. Easy to touch up.
-
Use Krylon Fusion. Its supposed to "bond" to plastic.
-
Use Krylon Fusion. Its supposed to "bond" to plastic.
Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to use that. Just like I wish I had used the self etching primer on my sliders...:-\
Oh yea, does anyone know if you can rebuild the top joint of the RE HD Trackbar? Tried searching a little bit and didn't find anything about it. Thanks!
-
Dan you gotta paint them. I will refuse to ride behind you with those as I will be forced to look at them all day long. Go black and don't look back
-
I think the track bar end is the same as the upper control arms from RE. That would make them rebuildable.
-
looking good dan
-
I think the track bar end is the same as the upper control arms from RE. That would make them rebuildable.
awesome. thanks chris for the info! I'll have to order a rebuild kit.
looking good dan
Thanks Bob! I'll get you those parts one of these days. Hopefully sooner than later!
Dan you gotta paint them. I will refuse to ride behind you with those as I will be forced to look at them all day long. Go black and don't look back
well if that's the case maybe I'll keep'em silver ;) :D
-
drop them off at my place sunday when you pick me up for the trail ride.....
-
hot....dont hate on silver 8)
-
I'm around all this week dan, may be heading up to Maine this weekend. Just call, PM whatevs
-
They look great, better color matched IMO.
-
paint them pink.
looking good Dan, love these progressive build threads.
-
when I first saw the pics i didn't realize it was yours with those tiny arse street legal tires and the flares. Then I though for a progressive build he looks to be going backwards. Funny how tires make it look right though huh?
-
After beating on my Jeep and previous damage because of the unibody I am thinking about getting frame stiffeners. I think this would be a good mod now before I beat/bend/twist and wheel my Jeep too much. Plus in the future depending on what I want to do it would be a good base to build off of.
I did some research and found this one. It appears to be the most complete one, other's I'd have to buy the front and then the rails separately. I had never heard of Roc Dog so I was wondering if anyone here had. Or if there were any other suggestions. I've already looked at TnT, Currie, T and J kits as well...

Thanks guys!
-
I put these on my MJ. Not worth the cost for an MJ...but they're great for an XJ.
http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/chassis-channel-reinforcement-p-291.html
And I used these.
http://www.temper-mentalracing.com/TMR/Parts_and_Services.html
I'd get the 3/16" steel...not the 1/8.
-
I like the ruffstuff. I like how it's a channel. Better to bolt skids onto.
Thanks for the info!!
-
So today I installed the ZJ V8 Tierod. It definitely feels beefier than the stock XJ one. I removed the sway bar since I haven't had it connected in about 6 months.
And from the pictures, yes my front diff is leaking fluid. Anyone know a good place where I can get D30 Diff Bolts?
Before

Comparison
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w60/dw265/100_2351.jpg)
Yes I painted them red
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w60/dw265/100_2352.jpg)
Installed. Afterwards I installed the cotter pins and visual aligned the wheels.
I over the last few days I sanded down my bumper and sliders and painted them dark gray. And FINALLY painted my silver flares red. I was sick of looking at those silver flares, didn't quite look right.
-
nice job, looks beef to me!

-
Hahahaha...
Hmmmm
(http://www.bigskymtbeef.com/linkspage/beef.gif)
-
i want to see your rig with the flares painted 8)
-
How did I miss this????? I'm a little slow Dan. If you want to clean up the door connectors I can help you. Delphi makes the weather pack connectors that are normally in vehicles and that's what I would use. I have some crappy molex connectors because I am to lazy to change them out on my doors (I put power windows and locks in my TJ). I have one to disconnect my bumper wiring. I'll snap a pic.
This place sells them but I can get them cheaper some where else but need to order them piece by piece.

Just let me know how many wires go into each door and I can order the connectors for you. I need to order a 4 wire connector for my lights that was crushed when my bumper folded in anyway. They are clean and neat. There is a clip to mount the connector that stays in the Jeep so it doesn't hang down when not connected. It also makes it easy to plug the door side connector back in. I also have some braided sleeving you can have to make the wires more presentable.
might be $10 to $20 bucks a connector depending on how many wires there are.

i want to see your rig with the flares painted 8)
x2 painted flare pics!! ;D

Looks good and well done!

Damn, This would have been nice to have a while back. Oh well, I'll take you up on your offer of some of that braided sleeving tho. All the functions of the doors work, but once they stop I'll take you up on some better connectors. Thanks for the info, it would've been better than my method!

Nice Dan!!

I'm sorry Dan, I'm more than happy to help. I just spend so much time sorting through BigD's posts that I can't get to all the "meaningful" threads...
;)
You need anything electrical and I don't respond to a post just PM me and tell me to get off my a$$

I am bringing my laptop to the BBQ so I can find every thread you have ever posted and quote them with some stupid comment in reply. I hope you spend countless hours skimming through my pointless posts and they annoy you till the cows come home.
Dan regardless of what Dorksy thinks of my addiction....and sticking to the thread topic...
I am curious why did you leave the ends of the tie rod black and not paint the whole thing?
Is it because you are going to get it aligned first or just like it that way?
-
Looks much better, did you clear coat them?
-
Hey brooksy, yea, next time I'll just send you a PM when I have an electrical issue.
Hey BigD, I might shoot them after I get an alignment. I'm sure it wouldn't matter but just figured it would be easier to move them around if they weren't gummed with paint.
I didn't clear coat the flares. The paint is not automotive paint but Krylon Fusion paint that supposedly adheres to plastic better. Without the gloss finish it'll make it easier to touch up when if...I mean when...I put them against a tree.

So 1 year ago I showed up to the BBQ with 31s and pretty much nothing else...one year later I show up with 5.5"s of lift, 35's, and locked/locked. What a difference a year makes.
I ended up going from 33 TSLs (which xbobj now owns) to 35 interco trxus mts. I wasn't dissapointed with their performance, they handled the 2hr drive there awesome and the muddy/soupy/bouldery boneyard very well. With the selectable locker I just hope I don't forget to turn it on. I also got 4.88 gears and a rear arb airlocker done at baystate off road (thanks Bob and Liza)
-
your jeep is looking good, I remember your flat 31 at the BBQ last year, indeed what a difference in 1 year.
-
very nice jeep, dan. love the arb i might have to go with one. and thanks for the tires, they ride great.
-
I remember well. Had a great cockpit view of your flat 31.....incredible changes!!!
I Think you and I are neck and neck with changes as I went from 33's open open to alloy rears locked and locked in front running 36's. You did the lift I swapped the tranny.
This club presure is intense. I wonder where we will be in a year from now!!!
You'll be on one tons...I'll probably have quit and sold my heap cuz my weak azz cage didn't hold up on my flob at maybell!!

his name is "krome" you weren't around during the chrometj days
-
I was making reference to his "krome"s name and his new ZJ. No, I didn't know him before and actually I've never met him. I thought it would be okay to compliment and make a little past reference to his old name by adding in his new ZJ. But if the Jeep Gods don't deem it okay, then I won't do it. I'm sorry if it offended you.

Haha. Gotcha. I wasn't sure. Sarcasm/jokes are sometime hard to infer from a line or two of text.

hahaha ask BigD how that goes. ;D

So today I changed out my steering box, power steering pump, and installed a C-ROK steering reinforcement plate on the inside of the frame as my bumper mount acts as one on the outside.
I used a dodge durango box out of a 1998 durango v-8 4x4 w/o plow package which I got at a junkyard in walpole for $50, worth about $200 new (incl core return).
The swap was going good until I removed the return hose which goes from the gear box to the reservoir on the steering pump and the plastic nipple on the reservoir snapped off. So I had to got to Everetts junkyard in Brockton and get a power steering pump for $30. There was no good way of separating the pump from the reservoir without damaging it so I had to buy the whole thing.
All said and done after installing the steering box, new pump, and brace the difference in steering is quite noticeable. The turning radius lock to lock appears to actually be better than my old one, the wheels turn easier and quicker. All the slop in steering seems to be gone, the response of the steering is immediate and not 1/4 of a turn later.
After Fall Crawl I'll post about how the box performs on the trail.
-
good job danny..glad you got her dun..

next time you need picked up in jersey and towed back to mass i will remember this
-
Sounds good Dan, any pics of the steering plate?
-
No pictures of it before being installed. I'll try to snap one or two when I get a chance.
So after more cutting of fenders, increasing the size of my bumpstops my tires still rub in the front. The rear seems to be just find with out any additional cutting or bumpstopping. My question is can I BB the front an inch or two to gain some additional clearance. Would this make the Jeep noticeably unlevel? Or have any other issues?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
-
what about a wheel spacer
-
Does the Jeep sit level now?
Have you considered trimming another 1" or 2" ?
-
I don't wheel spacers would help here, the pinch seam my tires are rubbing on are inside the wheelwell. So by pusing the wheels out it would just rub/cut a different part of the tire.
There are some pinch seams that would have to be cut. From what I've researched if I cut those too much it would compromise the strength of the unibody. I think the pinch seam could be welded if it is cut. Does anyone have any advice on this.
The jeep currently sits pretty level.
Thanks guys!
-
Cut 'n fold.
