Title: no wipers or washer in my YJ
Post by: mikeswrangler on February 12, 2007, 07:15:32 PM
My wipers and washer stopped working. Well this was the first time I have tried it since I got my jeep back. Is the fuse for the turn signals also the wiper washer switch fuse? I didnt see one under there that said wipers. I took another steering column I had apart and plugged the wiper/washer switch in and it still did nothing. Im not sure if it was just a coincedence that the washer/wiper switch was gone in that one also. But I just brought home a haynes book from work and looked in it for a fuse box diagram but there isnt one in it (great book  >:( ). I am going to do the ohm test the book shows for testing the switch. I ordered a new switch at my work just incase thats it. To bad they are 80 bucks, hopefully I wont need it.

yeh it still didnt work.

I found out there is a 5.3amp 12v circuit breaker unlabeled on the bottom row center of the fuse box that controls it. To bad NO local parts store carry these. And they are on back order from Jeep. The only dealership that has one is in lynnfield, Im not driving out there for that. Im gonna head to the junk yard tomorrow if its not to bad out after work and grab a few. For now I threw a 5amp fuse in there and it seems to work just fine, but I know the breaker type fuse must be in there for a reason.

I would assume any DC vehicle would have that breaker in it.. if your dealership is close, I would ask them to cross reference the part number against other vehicles to make your search easier.. if not, always a squeegy!

Yeh, I have a 5amp fuse in there now and it works fine. Thankfully in time for the snow tomorrow.
