Just a thought. I've got a 95 Silverado with no tailgate and the spare tire holder thingy that hangs under the bed broke. I saw this in Petersen'shttp://www.tiregate.com/ht.shtml (http://www.tiregate.com/ht.shtml) and thought it would kill 2 birds with 1 stone and looks pretty cool too, but HOLY PRICEY!!! Anybody want to throw some ideas my way, or estimates to build me something similar?? Hopefully with me watching so I can start to learn about bending and welding.

That does look pretty cool. It doesnt look that hard to build, but If I welded something like that it would look like [censored]! How expensive is it exactly? If it was around $500 I would pay it.

Try $800 + shipping :o

we could build one. or at lest try to. the only issue I see is trying to tie into the factory tailgate hinges/latch.
or
If you want I can call school street light trucks and see how much a tail gate is. they are usually real cheap.
