I'll cross-post this info over here too:
YJ's had 4 bolt boxes. No TJ ever came with a 4 bolt box from the factory. Easiest way to tell the year of the frame is to check the skid plate mounting bolts. If they are 1/2-13 then it is a 97-02 frame, if they are metric (I forget what size exactly) than it is an 03-06 TJ frame. The steering box mounts were always 3 bolt, the 3rd bolt is just in a different location on the Mercedes box.
