I was looking into rafting but didn't have the time, next year I may go for 2 weeks so I can.

This year I had the opportunity to do Black Bear Pass, and Poughkeepsie Gulch 2 trails I was looking forward doing. I flew out with my cousin and we rented a tj barbie jeep (more on this later).

We wheeled 8-10 hours a day covering anywhere from 30 miles to 90 miles a day. Trails are listed below in order.

Monday, July 27th - Engineer Pass, Animas Forks Ghost Town, California Gulch and California Pass (didn't stop at the pass), Hurricane Pass ,Corkscrew Pass and got onto Highway 550.

Tuesday, July 28th - Blackbear Pass, Bridal Veil Falls was the 2nd highest waterfall in Colorado. Came back over Imogene Pass

Wednesday July 29th - Drove to Silverton, Stony Pass, Crossed Pole Creek and then the Rio Grand River. Beartown site (but no sign of a town). Continued on to Kite Lake.

Thursday July 30 - Lower Engineer Pass trail. Poughkeepsie Gulch. Stopped at Lake Como for lunch. Hurricane Pass. Saw a '67 Lincoln in Minnehaha Basin. Went to Velocity Basin under Storm Peak. Went to Prospect Gulch where we saw a steam engine in an old mining building.

We landed in Durago On Saturday the 25th and drove the “million dollar highyway” to Ouray about 70 miles (Rt550).

Some history and pics along the way to Ouray.
