So I figured I would throw this up here, I purchased 4 weeks ago an Inside The Waistband Holster from G3 Holsters Inc in Blackstone Mass for my 1911 Officers Model.
And after driving to blackstone to meet with Jim the owner / craftsman personally, I have to say this was a great investment.
His I.W.B holsters are what are called a "hybrid" holster, utilizing a handmade leather backed kydex scabbard with heavy duty clips.
His design is similar to the semi popular "crossbreed" brand holsters, however his holsters are handmade with some extra touches the larger companies neglect, like beveling the edges of the leather as to not have a sharp edge that could dig into your midsection, and all his dyed leather is drum dyed, so that the leather is dyed through and through to retain it's color.
Jim himself is a great guy who started this company after getting sick of working in the auto industry, he decided to start this business with the hopes of being able to work from home to spend more time with his family, and to make a good quality product.
Each holster is usually made to order, with a bunch of different selections, I chose the horse hide leather ( for its natural resistance to absorb moisture....I sweat a lot) with plain black kydex with an FBI forward cant, they are also adjustable.
He also offers Outside The Waistband holsters, and will be offering magazine pouches as well( hopefully soon)
prices are quite reasonable compared to the other companies, and while he might not be ALOT more cheaper than the bigger companies, his are hand made to his standards, WITH a much better turn around than the other companies ( he had mine made in 3 days and would have shipped it, except I wanted to go and meet him to lean more about him and his goals) who have about a 6 week turn around.
other little things he uses a thicker kydex than the others as to be stronger by sacrificing the "look" of the holster ( kydex is a thermal/vacuum formed plastic that is made to fit the specific firearm you are using it for), most companies use a thinner kydex scabbard to give it more of the pistol defination, but it's not nearly as strong.
soo I think I praised this company enough, and rambled more than enough. heres mine.
