starting issue
« on: March 11, 2007, 07:43:44 PM »
Worked on the jeep all day, cranks strong, does not start.

New CPS
New battery
New alternator
New O2 Sensor
New IAC valve
Has Spark
Has Fuel

Am I looking at a ECM issue? I assume that if it was the ECM then I would hae no spark, not too sure though.
Dad always said "If it has boobs or spark plugs it will be fun AND will cause you problems."

Yup, new cap, rotor, plugs, coil and wires last spring.

Thats what I though. the ECM thats in there was put in in July, I fried the old one when I was welding up my cage and forgot to unhook the battery  ::)

I am swinging by a friend house today to pick up a FSM.. I am baffled though.

How old is the gas? Have you tried spraying some starting fluid in there?
Questions or Problems?

I have not tried spraying anything.. Gas is fairly fresh, I last put 93 octane in it in febuary, but I knew it was gonna be parked for a while so I put plenty of gas stabilizer in.

Edit
I am worried that if the ethanol has seperated from the petrol, then if would not smell bad, but rather my engine would run like crap.. the thing is, it would run like crap, just not run. I guess there is a huge issue with the 15% ethanol that is added to gas and older vehicles that sit.. I assume that the stabilized would cure this.

running  ;D

I used the FSM with the help of a friend last night and traced every conceivable cause.
Apparently the wire that controls I think the duty cycle for the injectors or regulates the band width for the injectors was grounding out. I honestly don't know what it does, but fixxed the wire and it runs. I am gonna keep it local for now just in case something else could possible be wrong from the wire grounding.

Congrats!  Hopefully you'll have no more issues.
