anyone doing a lot of welding should own one of these.
« on: September 21, 2015, 09:56:49 AM »
I purchased this mask about a year ago, I was doing a lot of grinding and welding in a small garage and could only open the doors when i wasn't welding because i would loose the gas shielding.
This mask fits right under any one of my welding hoods and its 3m so its comfortable enough to wear for hours without any extreme discomfort.

I reccomend anyone here have one in their shop.
Remeber keep them in a ziplock when not being used to preserve filters.

For $16 they are great to have.
I also have a few other of the 3m masks for when i spray paints and they are equal quality, make sure you have the right filters for the right job though.
I use the 2091 filter the most.

I have a couple different masks I use, but I like the one you posted as well.
One will be at my shop of the 25th

I bought one of these at your recommendation just now, i've been using the paper 3M ones.    I like the idea of something more usable, the older i get the more eye/ear/wind protection i use.

I have a different brand but same same basic thing. I used to not wear anything at work and after a day of welding and grinding railings I'd be blow dense black snot out of my nose all night. Once I bought and started using one of these masks, I find minimal steel particles in my nose and mouth and I can work longer. Only thing better would be to have one of those adflo systems 3m offers

i have a similar 3m mask but with much bigger filters that i use for sanding fiberglass while doing ding repair.  they won't fit under my welding mask though. currently i weld in a very large indoor building with too much air flow but i will get these filters for more enclosed quarters.
