Track bar bushing?
« on: January 19, 2007, 10:24:09 AM »
Ok, so I figured out that's the problem with my steering.  The RE track bar bushing is shot.  I haven't taken the track bar off yet to try to get it out, but before I do, how do you get the bushing out?  I know it's going to be simple and easily done with hand tools, but I want to go into this knowing instead of guessing with the potential of breaking something.

Thanks.

PS
The new one will be here in about a week so hopefully I'll put it in next weekend.

is it a one piece or a two piece bushing, it makes a little bit of a difference

Two piece you can just pull the two sides off and put the new bushing in

one piece you would have to more or less BFH it out

It is not hard at all...you should be able to figure it out once you get it out

I honstly don't know if it's one piece or two, but if those are my two ways of getting it out, I think I'm good.

Thanks adam.

Generally if its poly, its 2 piece, if its rubber its 1 piece.  My guess is it is a 2 piece.  Drive the metal sleeve out of the center of it, then mess with the halfs until they pull out.
