yes, they are a waste of money. stop being lazy  ;)

I know nothing, storage issue?
I am sure something can be made for a fraction of the cost.

they work great. you can park a small car under them too and save a lot of floor space in your garage.

I have storage space but i have a garage with 10ft ceilings so I thought it would be a good way to store the top out of the way.  Also, it makes it possible to take the top off by myself.

There are a couple of Do-it-yourself (i.e. much less expensive) versions of that floating around the internet.  Of course I can't put my hands on one right now... ::)

John - It's the new place.  We sold the old place and moved into the new one in November.  I have a good size 2 car garage but I do not want to take up floor space.

If you put some thought into it and used pullies and then joint the 4 roped into 1, a home made one would work evenly.

That's ass backwards.  It should be:

If you have to make payments for a rubicon, you aren't going to even be able to afford McDonalds, never mind an expensive hoist.
