just the climate controls? there are bulbs you should be able to unscrew if you pull the module out

yeah just heater/ac controls. Completely dark. All other lights work fine, dash, overhead, radio, breaks, running lights, blinkers, etc.

replace the bulbs. take the center dash off, should be two screws holding the HVAC controls in there, couple vacumn connectors and a plug. you should see the light bulb, replace. Dealership might be the only source for that light, I have had a [censored] of a time locating ones for my pickup, I ended up just going to the junk yard and taking an entire second dash board  ;D

Thanks Bob! I ripped my dash apart again and have that pulled out right now. I think I need a new connector (the left side by the fan switch with 5 prongs) as mine looks a little burnt on the switch side and a little melted on the body side. Maybe thats to be expected, it gets hot back there and everything seems to work right. I found the little bulb, it doesnt look burned out, and has seperate power wires from the harness. I think I might test it to see if its bad and maybe run some new wires to a known working power source.

If you unplug the factory harness from the climate control and look at the connections on the climate control does it look like a whole bunch of spade terminals? Like the the TJ one does. I had many problems with mine and I think it is an engineering or manufacturing flaw (bad connection creates heat). I cut my factory connector off and crimped on spade connectors and haven't had any issues since then. I have a bunch of spade connectors in various sizes if you want to do that. If that is unclear let me know, I always make perfect sense to myself.

makes sense I guess there was too much heat cause when I went to plug them back in the plug crumbled.  :)

Update for you hosers.

Brooksy thanks for the tip, its what I did after buying a new climate control on ebay from the RI guy for $0.01. I then took the bulb to Napa in Maynard and he matched it up and gave it to me free. I did cut the connector off and crimp spade connectors on it. Works great!

However, it doesnt seem to move the air to vent, or heat (floor), etc. It just blows out the defroster (hard) and the floor (lightly) at the same time, no matter where I move the selector. The A/C works, so does the heat, but it wont blow anywhere but where I just stated no matter which setting I put it on. The fan works as you would expect varying strength based on the selection.

I dont really care, I am not a huge fan of a/c and this will warm me up in the winter, just thought I would bring it up incase you guys new of something I F'd up.

Thanks for the help on this one!

Does it have the vacuum tubes on the back? That is what controls the vent selection on TJ's.

Yep. I plugged it in and can hear it vacuuming, but nothing selects! Wonder if I should check it? Soo hard to get to now, might just say screw it.
