Tubing and flat steel for extra support under a UNIBODY
and for reinforcing rocker panels..

Also diameter and wall thickness for roll cage stock...

I have heard 1 3/4 inch diameter and .75 thickness on DOM is respectable.. ( was thinkin thicker ? )
just lookin into things for future reference Huh?

.75 thick Huh
that's 3/4 of an inch!!!!
that's a little overkill Wink
how about .20 for thickness or were you referring to the steel plating for the unibody?
cause 3/16 '' to 1/4'' works there

For what you will be doing, you don't really need any extra bracing.  But if you can weld, and fabricate, it certainly won't hurt anything.  I'd go for .188" (3/16") for plating the unibody.  If you are new to fabricating, then skip the cage building project for now.  Its not totally necessary.  I doubt you will get yourself into a situation where you will REALLY need it.

And if you do build a cage, 1.75x.120 DOM is what most people use.

I would do this first and formost. do it while teh body is still fairly straight and clean.

this is what My cage is made of.

if your dom is going to be made of 4130 you could get away with something like .080 wall. but assuming your going to be using a mild steel like 4340 i would stick with a little thicker wall than that, .100-.120 is a popular size, and 1.5" tube is plenty strong enough no need to deal with 1.75" in my own opinion
