Trailer tire tech

What size and load range are you guys running on your haulers? I'm toying with the idea of going up a tire size (205/75r15 load range C to 225s D or E). Mainly to get a better load range.
Thanks for the ideas!

If fitment is not a problem, why not.
What are the axles and trailer rated at? I only ask because it would seam excessive to put tires that can support (numbers are arbitrary) 4Klbs each when you only have 4K pound axles and the trail is rated at 7K capacity.

To clarify and antithesis to that, If the current tires are rated at 1800 each, two 3.5 ton axles and a gross trailer rating of 7K pounds, then the increase in capacity, I think, would be perceived as beneficial.

Trailer is rated at 7k, current tires are 1750ea. They have a fairly decent bulge when loaded, I doubt my Heep exceeds their capacity. I was just thinking a 10 ply tire might last a bit longer and save me from changing a flat (or tire with a broken belt) on the highway...

Do you blow lots of trailer tires? What pressure are you running?
I'll check mine when it's light out, but I think I have the same as you and have had good results. I did replace mine with new tires, and carry two spares.

If the price differential is minimal between the two, I would see no issue going with the higher load capacity tire for the extra assurance, Again, fitment being the limiter.
More as a note for someone who reads this randomly and not directed at you, greater load range tire does not increase the load capacity of the trailer.
