th400 with a shift kit and a stall speed converter, around 2500-3000 rpms, not sure yet. keeping it on the column.

Is that a 4 link rear suspension?  Did it come from the factory like that?

Bob that looks like a great project, all the hard work has already been done, good buy. unfortunate about the damage but the money you saved not having to remove all those suspension components and wire brush/ paint the frame, control arms and everything else, will give you some to paint the exterior.

did he tell you what he used to paint the frame etc?
looks like 90 percent of the work that needs to be done on a lift has already been done. toss an engine in that thing throw some interior at it, wire it up paint it and drive it. looks like it was an AC car too make sure you hook that up.

I don't know what the frame was painted with. I probably will do the ac.

Just a guess here but Im guessin a new guy a jeep driven forum with the name vettefever might have a little to know with jeeps but alot to know about old cars.

Just a guess here but Im guessin a new guy a jeep driven forum with the name vettefever might have a little to know with jeeps but alot to know about old cars.

Oh and I suppose with a name like vettefever5 he couldn't just have allergies to the corvette right.  :shrug:

back 10+ years ago we used to get a subscription to a magazine called Corvette Fever.  i was trying to come up with an email address quickly and had the magazine sitting next to me on my desk.  i shortened it to vette, added 5 (fav number) and voila.  it's my email address and the same name i use on all of the various forums i'm on.  same name/password makes it easy to remember them all although it only actually makes sense on a few  ;D

and yes, i am new to jeeps and the whole 4x4 thing but i've been turning wrenches since i was 11 or 12.  i had an older 300zx, i have a crotch rocket, and i'm working with my dad and brother on building a 72 corvette which is almost "done."  buying a jeep and getting into offroading is a totally different world.... hence questions like "what's the point of 1 tons?"  live and learn!  i love going fast, but i'm starting to love going slow too.

Thats awesome.  Family projects like that are cool.  Maybe you could do a pic thread on the build.  I'm sure we'd all enjoy some of the hard work and dedication you have put in to your Vette. ;)
