post office wtf
« on: February 14, 2014, 07:48:35 PM »
So....I had a package coming today (according to tracking number, it was "Out For Delivery"), and I understand that the weather sucked.  I checked the mailbox and found some excise tax bills but no package.  Keep in mind it is a small item and is coming in a small flat-rate box (fits easily in the mailbox).  I check the tracking number to see WTF is up, and it says "Notice left: Receptacle blocked."

[censored] you post office.  You deliver the mail and prove that the receptacle was NOT blocked, but are too lazy to put my package in the mailbox.  Not only that, but there is no notice.  Now I have to go to the post office to get it.   ::)

I was complaining yesterday about the usps for the same reason. When someone sends me something using usps I just hope it comes at "some point" rather than thinking it will come when it says on their tracking info date.

It's amazing how badly the government runs things.

Or if you get it all.  I had a box come last year they just have me a piece of the cardboard in a bag that said "we're sorry it has been damaged".

I'm not sure what happened to it that they didn't have the whole box or any of its content.

I had that happen recently with the payment book for my girlfriends new car..... Envelope was shredded along with the payment book and it was all stuffed in one of those " sorry it was damaged" bags!   :-\

a buddy of mine was waiting on a  special order belt for his lancer, was supposed to be delivered that day we got the dusting of maybe 1" of snow, same thing happened, he got his excise tax for the lancer, plus his cell phone bill in the mail, yet when he checked the tracking on his package, it said could not deliver due to weather...
yet this last large storm we had,the luggage my mother in law had me order ( a package almost large enough to be considered freight) was delivered by UPS with my free 2 day delivery no problem, and maybe 2 hours later than they normally show up for delivery.... so yeah.... Eff the USPS
yayyyy it has 4x4

I have another, more significant package coming on Monday.  I had to talk myself into paying $5 extra for UPS over USPS.  Now I'm glad I did.

Actually a few weeks ago, UPS didn't get to my house till 8:30PM.  The guy is a trooper!

It arrived today.  Good thing I wasn't able to make it to the PO to pick it up.  That would have resulted in a completely wasted trip.

My new pool cue was due to be delivered Thurs but we got a foot of snow, online tracking said the same thing receptacle blocked although I didn't get any mail either. They delivered it Friday after I had shoveled and plowed.

I ordered a diff cover and patiently waited for it's arrival from USPS.  Finally I got a knock on my door and it was the mailman holding an empty box with one end blown out.  He said "I have a package for you, but I would suggest that you don't except it.".  It was an Alloy USA cover for my CJ's AMC20 and it weighed 18lbs.  How does something like that go missing, and why bring me the empty box.  The POS company (Oconee Offroad) that I ordered it through made me wait 2 weeks before they'd ship me another one.  Even though it was on record that I got an empty box delivered, they had to make sure it was the USPS fault before I got my cover.   :(

It can happen with UPS as well. I sold a Koenig winch, PTO, mounting plate, and driveshaft to a guy down south. I metal strapped everything but the driveshaft to a pallet (shipped the DS separately). The clerk at UPS made note on how well it was packaged. Somewhere between where it shipped out and NC the PTO went missing (can't run the winch without the PTO). There is no way it dislodged because the metal straps would have still been there, the PTO and straps were missing, or cut and removed. The buyer chose not to purchase insurance so it gave UPS a get out of jail free card and they acted the part and wasn't any help in locating it.
