i'm as sure as i can be. heres a copy paste of what i put on the cummins forum.
"
1st, I get no code or engine light, but truck was holding on to first gear for way to long, and would shift hard into second then act semi normal. stuck it on live data and i was getting no temp readings and the desired pressure was not agreeing with actual.(temp sensors in the pressure sensor so it all makes sense.
I look up TSBs on the issue i had (no codes). Everyone suggests an arbitrary solenoid and sensor.
So i put in Mopar parts, filter and mopar ATF+4.
fixed, i'm a happy camper once again.
about 2 weeks go by and i'm driving, I'm about 40 minutes into a trip and the engine light comes on and all of a sudden the truck feels like it doesn't want to move forward without gobbs of throttle. but once it gets rolling It shifts into second and acts fine after that.
Code reads P0868, (Gov pressure sensor volts too high) crap.
throw it on live data and I'm getting the desired pressure is not what the actual is.
I drop the pan again, proceed with checking the sensor.
I pin out the sensor and shows me 5v feed, sensor, ground and temp sensor.
i throw the fluke on it and i get the 5v input but i'm also getting a full 5v out of the sensor wire, which as far as i can see in my diagrams is wrong.
Unplug the sensor, Still getting 5v from the sensor wire. i figure there is a short somewhere in the harness, check it at the trans connection theres no short inside the trans. I check it at the ecu, no short in the harness to there.
So with the sensor wire cut at the ecu and everything else plugged in i seem to be getting the right Voltage from the sensor to the ecu, which is supposed to be like .1 to 4.8 volts or something. (I forget what it was exactly) but i was getting a; what looked to be correct reading from the sensor to the ecu. But when i check the sensor witre at the ecu it seems there is 5v coming out of the ecu at what is supposed to be the sensor wire.
Proceeded to check all of the grounds coming in and out of the ecu and everything seemed kosher.
ECU got sent out to get fixed, but was un-fixable according to the ecu guys. so i order a used one that has been "fixed" which shows up after a few days and I plug it in and I get no engine light, But the p0868 code is still present and not clearable.hard code.
I go through the entire pinout procedure AGAIN, and find the exact same problem. I explain whats going on to the ecu guys and they send me out another one. Thats en-route right now. so wish me luck with that. "
tjhats where i stand at this point. the ecu shows up today
