Just got in.  Ran out of wire.  I've burned through 3 lbs of wire for this little project  :o

I was on a roll too.   ::)  I'd still be out there if I had more  ;D

1.) New shackle boxes...done.
2.) Bumper/hitch tie-ins to frame....done.
3.) Passenger rear fender trimmed.
4.) 6* pinion angle shim and new spring centering pins installed.  U-bolts finger tight around axle.
5.) Shock mounts welded on, and shocks connected.

Tomorrow I have to:
1.) Mount my hydro reservoir, and possibly bleed the system.
2.) Hook up the brake lines, and maybe bleed them.
3.) Make rear drive shaft.
4.) Trim driver's fender.
5.) Trim front bumper and fenders.
6.) Mount spare tire.

Will it be ready???    HHHHMMMMMM :woot:

So upon reassembly and construction of my driveshaft I ran into a rather serious problem.  The 1310 u-joint was at its maximum angle at ride height.  After much thinking and stewing, I decided to remove a leaf from the leaf spring packs, and grind the slip yoke.  Removing a leaf spring worked beautifully, and the MJ now sits rather level.  The grinding of the yoke also proved fruitful and with the combination of the two I will have at least some down travel.  The driveshaft is cooling now, but in a few minutes I will go out and install it, and measure for shock travel.  My plan is to use the shocks to limit down travel so I won't over extend the u-joint.  God I need limiting straps.

go to tractor supply and get axle straps. the type you use to secure a vehicle to a trailer if using ractchet straps instead of chain. i use them all the time for limiting straps, very strong, easy to mount, cheap

get it done twisty

I like that idea.  ;D

Today I got the steering reassembled, and bled.  The driveshaft is in, and the shock mounts are re-re-re-welded.  Axle u-bolts are tight.

I'd say that this "modification" has more benefit and practicality than the 1 ton swap.  Much easier to fit between trees, and much less tree contact.  Wheel base is a great number, and the truck looks more uniqe.

I am a happy camper. ;D
