Some of you know my situation and others don't. I haven't been on the trails in a couple years but that's something i'm trying to change this year. With that being said, i was working on my Jeep because it has been on jack stands for 2 years and noticed there was a TON of rust on my springs (3.5 RE lift), something typical of a New England vehicle that hasn't moved in years. People who know me realize how much the rust drives me nuts but i put it in the rear view and kept moving forward with taking it out of storage.
Long story longer.....I got the jeep on the road and 3 of the 4 springs snapped. Yup....snapped on the first bump and it was a big THUD down to the bump stops and driving down the road with my passenger side ass way up in the air.
Next came a few choice words, thinking about torching the Jeep and possible hiring someone to steal it, but i called Rubicon Express instead. After about 30 minutes of talking to their customers support, they shipped me 4 brand new springs! I honestly couldn't believe it, but they said the model i bought years ago isn't as good as they are now and it's a known issue. Because of this, they are replacing them if you simply call and ask when they break.
I'm writing this post for two reasons. First, to tell Bob i'm trying. I'm getting closer and closer and hope to have it up and running in a couple weeks and trail ready once the weather warms back up. Secondly, to pat RE on the back. I didn't buy the lift directly from them, it's more than 10 years old and they had no issues giving me new springs. Pretty damn good and i'll gladly give them some good PR for it.
That's my story....now back to faking work while looking on forums to see what i've missed over the past couple years!
Closer and closer every day to getting back on the trail.
PS
Pics are of the front only. I can't find the back ones on my work computer.
