I attempted to do the ball joints today, and honestly I am a little intimidated by the amount of breakdown I need to do to get them in. I got the big nut off the passenger side and didnt have the 12 point socket I need to go forward, so I wound up just changing the brakes out. The new brakes are nice, my new phone is no longer nice.. haha - I went to bed the brakes in and forgot it was on the roof - the 3rd time smashing the brakes they caught good and my phone went flying at about 60 miles an hour, it did not land gracefully. however it still works and the screen is not scratched - hehe. The old brakes were worn really weird, the rotors were fubar'd but the pads looked good... i replaced everything anyway, i can lock up the tires now, before stopping fast was scary.

Jeff - those e-brake cables worked perfectly! Remember that if anyone ever needs them.

jeep looks awesome Mitch.

That fuel smell might be a slight leak in the tank.  I had that problem for like a year.  I could smell fuel, especially when real humid down here, but never saw any leaks at the fuel pump or on the ground.  Eventually it started dripping on the ground, pulled everything out and there was a pinhole leak from rust where the plastic guard had been trapping mud for years.  A new tank isnt that expensive.  Also check the gas cap and make sure that is not bad as well.

Got the passenger side ball joints in, the wheel bearing fell apart while trying to remove it. So Maki and I headed to the zone to pick up a new one. I didn't do the drivers side yet - planning on next month. The passenger side was baaaaaad, so that was priority. The drivers side is very tight still, but I figure I will just do both sides.

Maki, thank you sooooo much for breakfast, your tools, your garage to shelter from the rain. Most of all thanks for guiding me through the entire process and for driving me around. I know you'll never get that 6 hours back, I owe ya one!

I also picked up 4 pioneer 6.5" speakers off ebay tonight. Gonna install them in the 5.25" stock locations. I only have 2 speakers in the rear currently and they are crackling bad. I can't hear my audio books on the turnpike!! Must have tunes!!!!!

Going to change the AW4 fluid this weekend I think, got some questions since there are sooooo many Jeep pro's on the internet my search has confused me.

1. I am planning on changing it about 3 times, and cycling through all the gears for 5-10 seconds between changes.
2. ATF-4 or Merc/Dex ?  - I find too many inconsistencies on the internet. Which do I use.
3. I am not planning on dropping the pan and changing the filter (screen). Is this a bad idea? I have heard its a waste of time and I currently dont have any leaks... Smiley

Edit: my fluid is black - I think I dont want black.
