cracked axle tube
« on: July 21, 2015, 08:24:55 AM »
going to fast and getting air is a bad thing. Should I weld this with my little Hobart 140 (110) or have someone with a big unit do it?

You could short term seal the leak with the 110 so as to not miss any wheeling

I would use the machine you have Bob, just make sure you prep the crack. Drill stop holes at each end, and grind a deep V into the crack.

Too add to what Chuck said, I would spray the piss out of it with brake cleaner.

Just be careful doing that because it lets off some nasty fumes
